Ohioans' exodus to Texas is Lone Star State's gain

LORDSTOWN, Ohio – Thousands of the men and women here in northeast Ohio build cars. Their fathers made steel. Home was Youngstown, a city of factories filled with neighborhoods of immigrants from Europe and the American South.

Today, however, most of these families have left. "I have three kids, and I don't see much future for them here," said Kevin Scott, a 39-year-old with Magna Exteriors and Interiors who installs car seats at GM's giant Lordstown auto plant. His children likely will be forced to move on – as tens of thousands of Ohioans have to Texas.

He says Texas should want to help Dayton and other Ohio cities get back on their feet.

Why? You made your bed with the unions and socialists, NOW SLEEP IN IT!

Exactly, if they’re coming to find freedom and work hard, they are welcome. However, remember that you left your old ‘failed’ state because of left-leaning politics to come to a ‘successful’ states that utilizes right-leaning politics. Don’t bring your failed politics.

Nobody is checking. The SoS offices proudly talk about the “number of votes” cast. They don’t care who is casting the ballots. It just looks nice if the numbers are large. I heard a story during the last election about a guy who had received three ballots. He was kind enough to give one of the “extra” ballots to a friend who told us about it.

They get away with it the same way folks from NY/NJ get away with voting at home and in FL. They just DO it, and absurd as it is in this tech age, there seems to be no cross checking from state to state.

I moved several times in a 5 year period, each time changing registration. Only VA notified my former state (CA) of the change of voter registration. I suspect I am still voting in Chicago.

Y’all are probably going to need a reeducation camp at the borders. They’ll say anything but they’ll vote Dem. Just my sad humble opinion.

Thank you for ping. The political problem with migration into SC from Up East or the Rust Belt, is that these folks tend to bring their politics with them. South Carolina is slowly turning a political shade of purple because of this. Democrats Obama in 2008 and Sheehan (gov race)in 2010 polled better than expected. Texas may well be last conservative bastion state in the Union in a few years, and even that may change due to Hispanic migration. Demographics are a bear.

Absolutely incredible. The Tea Party should make voter fraud a major part of their agenda, in addition to taxes, spending, term limits, etc. and hold GOP members of Congress feet to the fire. Voter fraud has GOT to be stopped or at least severely curtailed somehow...

FWIW, here in Connecticut we have to show a valid photo ID (usually a drivers' license) before we can vote, yet five miles away in Massachusetts, it's a voter free-for-all from what I hear - no ID required.

Exactly. I live in Dallas and we have plenty to worry about here. Sure it’s better than Dayton, only because we haven’t effed it up yet, but it’s not as good as it used to be. We are fighting the battle against Socialism here also, so for those in the Rust Belt, save yourselves. If do you decide to come here, leave your Socialist ideas at home. If you want to eventually help Dayton or Cleveland or Detroit, Texas is your last, best hope.

I live in Plano, and I have a feeling with the current poor economy nationwide relative to the prosperous economy here in Texas we are in the midst of a mass influx of people from the Rust-Belt—similar to what happened during the boom days up north when the auto industry attracted people from the south by the tens of thousands, just in reverse.

"WELCOME To Texas!!!! "

This is not good news for Texas, if the newcomers try to turn Texas into another Youngstown.

We’ve had the photo ID requirement in VA since (I think) George Allen was governor. Long time. Dems in the state legislature fought it like crazy. And lost.

Last year I had to renew my VA driver’s license ... I’d let it lapse by 2 weeks, and guess what? To get a new one issued, I had to provide a certified copy of my birth certificate, my marriage license and other docs (can’t remember which) firmly establishing that I am who I claim to be and that I am legally living in VA, where I claim to be living in VA, and have a right to a VA driver’s license. Then, they process it and eventually issue a driver’s license (maybe 2-3 weeks. I’m glad they take all those precautions but warn folks NOT to let their current driver’s license expire without renewing.

their damnyankee entitlement mentalities with them

Entitlements ain't Yankee.....

.....They are European mentalities.

Just because you were born North of the Mason-Dixon Line doesn't mean you aren't of the right mind.

Ohio was once a great Capitalist state. The Unions and European tendencies brought us down.

The Lordstown plant is right on the Ohio Turnpike, just west of Exit 218 where I80 splits with I76, so it has been a landmark to me for many years. You can see it in Google Street view, and I notice there is link to the UAW local there. Click on that for an eyeful of the UAW dreamworld.

[Ask people in SC...]

Being a resident of SC I can tell you this, when I came here after escaping from NY in ‘76 this state was a rock solid Conservative.

As time went by, the liberals who voted for politicians who raised their taxes decided to migrate south to avoid paying them. Now that they live here they will vote for liberals again, who will raise taxes.

Sooner or later the migrating liberal slime from the north are going to run out of states to infect, in the mean time, all we can do is examine carefully, on the local level, who we send to Washington.

Lindsay Graham counted on the slime migration and they came through for him.

Problem is Obama and his thugs at EPA have declared war on us (Texas) by enacting (pseudolegislating) GHG rules. Don’t get too cozy.

Perhaps there should be an entrance exam to see if people are liberals or not. And a background check. Plus, a hefty security deposit, forfieted on their first democrat or RINO vote.

I met a lady at a Tea Party last year that had recently moved to Tennessee from the northeast. Somehow, she and I got on the discussion of taxes. She was upset that Tennessee charged sales tax on groceries, and thought that there should be an income tax instead. I told her plainly that I originally came from Ohio and that when there, there was about a 5% income tax, a stiff sales tax, and a property tax that was TRIPLE what it was in Tennessee. I let her know that I was saving AT LEAST $5000 a year living here in taxes alone. Then I told her that if they added an income tax, they would not lower the others - that it would be just another tool for government to steal the fruit of our labor. I think that she understood.

Dang yankees.

Our problem is all of the “snowbirds” who usually vote for DemocRATS show up here just in time for our elections. They vote absentee in their home states and vote here also. It really screws up our state.

Outrageous! How do they get away with this??

The same is true in many colleges. The Lefties stay registered at home and vote absentee. They also reregister in their college communities and vote in person there. The Left has always been a minority with unjustified influence. That is on way they do it, voter fraud.
