Three times in the past three years, Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was stopped for traffic violations while driving cars that were owned by a car salesman or a Columbus used-car lot where the salesman worked, according to traffic citations obtained by The Dispatch.
Ohio State is aware of two of those infractions, and an investigation determined nothing improper had occurred, said Doug Archie, associate athletic director for compliance. He was unaware of an incident that occurred in October 2008 and said yesterday that he would investigate it.
In that incident, Pryor was ticketed for speeding in eastern Ohio's Guernsey County, driving a 2004 GMC Denali that belonged to car salesman Aaron Kniffin when he said he worked for the Jack Maxton dealership.
This past March, Pryor was stopped for speeding in Licking County with a 2009 Dodge that is registered to Auto Direct of Columbus, a used-car dealership on E. Dublin-Granville Road where Kniffin worked. A week later, Pryor was pulled over in Columbus for a different infraction, driving the same Dodge.
Ohio State knew about Pryor's use of the car while he had the engine in his own car replaced this past spring and was assured that every customer receives a loaner when extended repairs like that are necessary, Archie said.
Pryor told The Dispatch last night that he borrowed cars from the dealership only when his own was in for repairs and that he spoke with Kniffin only in those instances. As for the SUV he borrowed in 2008, Pryor said, "I wanted advice from some of my family and friends I trusted to see if it would be a good vehicle for me to maybe buy."

I am tired of the NCAA recruiting high school athletes in the poorest neighborhoods of this country, looking the other way with the respect to their grades.
And after these kids give their time (that could be used for a job) to the athletic program, the NCAA acts “shocked” that these same kids would trade on the only thing of value they have...their name, in order to hustle up some money for things that most other students can afford. Yes, like tattoos.
The NCAA needs to stand up, and put its big boy pants on and quit treating these kids like indentured servants.
Other “performers” at schools are not treated this way. Whether they are actors, musicians, singers etc. No restrictions on their money-making activities exist. They are allowed to sign for autographs and pictures all day long...for cash. Side gigs. Paid interviews, and more, etc. With NO repercussions from the university.
Don’t get me started....
Ditto...
Pryor has been disappointing on the field too, he was supposed to be a killer quarterback, but he seems to be maturing very slowly.
I'm sick of hearing the commentators talk about how he is developing as a QB as if he were still a freshman. He's a Junior soon to be a Senior, and he's still just "getting it"?
I do like how he runs and looks like he isn't even trying though...
Show me one group/organization that is not corrupt in this here US of A. This is what materialism & absence of religion & the throw away of the Ten Commandments has done - no consequences for bad behavior. College football was about the last vestige of somewhat purity. Now that is vanishing as quick as global warming.
You can’t even count on Mount Union to win the Stagg Bowl these days.
You really need to check your facts. First of all, USC didn't buy Reggie Bush or his family anything, it was people who had no relation with the university who paid for all of that. Secondly, USC got a 2 year bowl ban and lost 10 scholarships for 3 years.
“Ive shifted my interest from pro sports to college sports. With this kind of crap, maybe sports is just a waste of time.”
What about the U.S.N.A.,West Point and U.S.A.F.A.? Are they as dirty as the other ones? It seems to me that they would still have to keep themselves squared away even if they played sports.
like howard said on college gameday,(paraphrasing), ‘Imagine what Bo or Woody would do to you if they found out you sold your gold pants!’ i like old school loyalty.
Add the Jackets and you have an even four.
Why is it incumbent on the players to pretend they’re students when they’re not? They’re employees in a multi-billion-dollar industry. If you can take scholarship money, why not a car, especially when a fake degree in communications is worthless?
“Oh, but they have a chance to pursue a real degree if they want to.” No, they don’t, per the terms of their employment, which would get any other employer in trouble with the labor department for minimum wage violations. They practice, eat, practice, sleep, and practice. It’s a wonder any of them have any time left for sexual assault between games.
These guys will never, ever have a chance to make the kind money after college they can make in their few short years of eligibility. They should be allowed to charge what the market will bear from Nike or whomever. These guys get their bodies beat all to hell like gold miners and the colleges get to keep all the gold with sanctimonious crap about the integrity of student athletics as a cover. PAY. THEM. These artificial chokeholds on the free market are downright un-American.
Being a Buckeye and lifelong Browns fan (depressed during the hiatus), i was about to give you some crap, but then i saw your screen name and changed my mind. You have been punished enough my friend.
The Browns, Tribe and Jackets would be my trifecta.
Pathetic all. :)
I agree 100%. The feigned outrage by the NCAA is completely disgusting. There was a KR in Colorado a few years ago who wasnt allowed to play because he won money as a pro skier. Completely different sport. But a Notre Dame Safety was allowed to keep endorsement money (not prize winnings) from a boxing match in Madison Square.
At least one Wisconsin team won a Bowl
Jeremy Blum (CO) and Tom Zbikowsky (ND)?
Yeah. They both made money from a job other than football, so why does one get disqualified? For that matter, why does the NCAA care about how a student makes money at a job separate from the game they have a scholarship for? It isnt any different than a football player making money in a band, just someone using their talents to make extra money. I cant imagine that skiing money hurts the integrity of Colorado football.
Do you?
What an ignorant question.
Pryor's father is disabled, in a wheelchair. One of the reasons he went to OSU was so his father would be able to travel to see him play.
Stop whining, Dave, and get over yourself. Are you friends with the punk, Pryor? That’s a rhetorical question...personally I could not care less.
