John Parsons Wheeler 3d, a Vietnam veteran officer who served in three GOP Presidential administrations, and who chaired the committee that raised funds from businesses, agencies and prominent Americans to get the Vietnam Veterans Memorial built on the Washington Mall, was found dead in a landfill a few miles from his New Castle Delaware home this weekend.

Yes. His recorded donations were mostly to Republicans but $2,000 to Wesley Clark, and some amount to Chuck Robb. See cmpaignmoney.com or opensecrets.org, for example.

Hers were just to Dems in 2008. Biden, Obama, and good ol’ ActBlue.

Despite what was implied with Christine O’Donnell, only 3 in 10 voters are registered Republican, and a huge chunk of them are rich (i.e., liberal), especially in New Castle County.

I’m guessing many here would have called him a RINO, but he was reportedly getting more conservative. Her first donations weren’t until 2008—to Dems. Who knows what his wife was up to? Were they growing apart? Was one involved in something?

I do think they’ll find the answer to all this, though.

I've actually been there many times-

I think you & I must be next door neighbors. I live in town. The deal is that the new house is substantially larger than the house that once stood on the property. According to the New Castle Historic Area Commission, the Marinis' were prohibited from altering the home's exterior. At some point in the past, a piece of earth moving equipment "accidentally" destroyed the old home while doing landscaping. This is what started the controversy. Wheeler and most of the town believed that the Marinis' intentionally destroyed the existing home simply in order to construct a new, larger home with a fantastic view. This has happened before in Old New Castle.
