How do ethnic studies prepare a student for life after finishing school? But it preparing a student for adult life was the goal of high school, most of its cirriculum would have to be abolished.
I think you are missing the point. School isn't about preparing for life after finishing school. It's about understanding how each and every class of people is used by someone else and as a result everyone is a victim. As a result, the only thing that kids need to know to get their diploma is that everyone is a victim and the only way to right such evil injustices is for the benevolent government to step in and make things right.
Jeesh - aren't you keeping up with the academic times?
It took only 3 replies for somebody to get it right. Good for you. This is first and foremost a waste of student time. If they want to check out the latest in ethnic studies palp let them do it on their own time. Math, science, computer science, english and perhaps some business or vocational training are what is required to produce functioning adults. Opinions don’t put food on the table or boost the GDP.
Easy! That sham "Raza Studies" sheepskin is valid for getting a govt job, especially when coupled with minority set-aside status.
Every wonder why so many govt workers are so stupid (for their given position,) and convert this awkwardness into sullen behavior toward us mere supplicant taxpayers?
They "qualified" for federal or state or city employment based on "ethnic studies" degrees, in "colleges" where nobody ever in history failed in those majors. Plus ethnic skin, you have the golden ticket to govt employment for life. Even if you can't do 8th grade math or English.
While this is not another reason to homeschool in the usual sense, it is something concerning the public schools which deserves attention.
It’s good to see someone taking a step in a positive direction in public education, although it shouldn’t have gotten to the point it was at in the first place.
Good to see someone with some backbone.
This particular system of ethnic studies clearly was meant to prepare Arizona students for lives of serfdom as citizens of Mexico.
