Murder in Tucson - Jared Loughner's sickness is not the product of politics..
The Wall Street Journal ^ | JANUARY 10, 2011

Posted on 01/10/2011 8:05:10 AM PST by Delacon

On all available evidence, Jared Lee Loughner is a mentally disturbed man who targeted Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and anyone near her in Tucson on Saturday because she was prominent and they were tragically accessible. He joins Sirhan Sirhan, John Hinckley Jr. and many others whose derangement led them to horrible acts of violence. Whatever confused political motives he expressed seem merely to be part of the maelstrom of his mental sickness.

In a better world, no one would attempt to exploit his madness for political gain. We would instead focus on the contributions of Ms. Giffords, by all accounts a laudable public servant. We would celebrate the lives of the other victims, and we would praise the survivors who intervened to tackle Mr. Loughner and disarm him before he could kill others—like 74-year-old retiree Bill Badger, who was grazed in the head by a bullet before helping to restrain the shooter.

But the shooting news had barely hit the wires on Saturday before the media's instant psychoanalysis put the American body politic on the couch instead of Mr. Loughner. "Bloodshed Puts New Focus on Vitriol in Politics," declared a story in the New York Times, which focused primarily on the tea party and Sarah Palin in the context of mass murder. The story even hauled in opposition to health-care reform.

Politico, the Beltway website, chimed in by quoting a "veteran Democratic operative" advising the White House "to deftly pin this on the tea partiers," just as "the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people" in 1995.

Shouldn't a publication insist that someone urging the exploitation of murder

Yet it is notable that the press corps was more restrained in identifying Major Hasan's Islamist role models than in immediately stretching to link Mr. Loughner with American politicians who universally denounce such violence.

Ponder the implication of this. A deranged soul shoots a public figure and we are supposed to change our political discourse and rule certain people and opinions out of bounds based on whatever incoherent ramblings Mr. Loughner published on his website?

Folks, they politicized this nationwide in way less than 24 hours after the killings. The bodies were not even warm, no investigation, no logic. And yes, they are placing other’s lives in danger.

Loughner is a homosexual, and therefore, by definition, is mentally ill.

yesterday right-wing websites were reprising this or that quote from Democrats and even President Obama invoking some martial or weapons metaphor to suggest they are as culpable. This is as offensive as the blame-Republican implications in the New York Times.

It was a really good piece until I got to the above. The authors are dead wrong. There is nothing offensive about exposing hypocrisy, except, of course, to the hypocrite.

The so-called liberals will lie and twist every event to push their agenda and attack innocent parties. I am surprised they did not blame the Gulf Coast oil spill on Sarah Palin.

And this esteemed psychological opinion offered by an inside-the-beltway journalist based on zero data whatsoever.

Never mind the KOS postings...

Bah.

I love the way the leftist politicians and the leftist press are trying to paint the Arizona tragedy as a crisis. They actually feel threatened, not so much by the supposed crisis itself but by the sentiment America is developing against the left. They seek to deflect that sentiment with the Arizona tragedy, when in fact more statements of violence come from Obama himself ( They bring a knife, we bring a gun), and violent incidents have been perpetrated by the SEIU ( Town Meetings)and by Obama supporters.

( Remember what happended to Louisianna Governer Bobby Jindals chief of fundraising staff Allee Bautsch, who was beaten so hard along with her boyfriend by Obama supporters that both needed reconstructive surgery, because they were wearing Sarah Palin buttons.)[http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2492136/posts] et seq.

Yet the left says nothing of the true context of the violent speech of Obama, Al Sharpton or Michelle Bachman? What a laugh.

These leftist idjits do not fool America one bit. They are desperate and on the way out IMHO. And they know it.

I think part of what is going on here is the left promoting an agenda where everything in your life is coming from or being done for the government. They want government to be the only influence in your life. In this case the influence was bad, so it has to be the right wing. We have already seen freedom robbing legislation submitted to make it illegal to use threatening language against a congress critter.

It all goes back to two choices, Freedom or Socialism.

I disagree. The quote you use is saying that some on the right are trying to blame the left for the shooting just as the left is trying to blame the right. Neither is being hypocritical, both are just wrong.

That's because for the left, their government agenda has taken the place of God. If I commit a crime, it is because I have rejected God's moral code. If I avoid doing something bad, it is because I live by God's moral code. Take God's moral code out of it and what do you have? A God-void. Voids must be filled and the left has filled it with government. So the left believes that Jared did wrong because he rejected the left's government agenda (i.e., he must be from the right).

Agreed. And, the left hates the right because we don't think they are as important as they think they are. Liberalism is a disease (of a godless mind.)

They missed the point. The conservatives were posting in response to the attacks from the left that started immediately after the shootings. The conservatives would rather not have to engage in such an exchange, but the left brought this one on, so the right is acting literally in self-defense here by pointing out the rank hypocrisy of those on the left who started the attacks.

Remarks like this are typical of rino and rino writers. They try so hard to be moderate. They can be talking about a liberal killing a thousand people and they will always add “And the republicans need to stop, too.”

The leftist press says nothing about the violent attacks on conservatives and NEITHER do our wonderful g.o.p. “LEADERS” when they have the chance.

Then the Sheriff wrapped up the investigation in less than 30 hours. I thought I was watching an episode of 24. Leave questions unanswered, appeared to be the Sheriff's motivation.

Paul McCartney wrote the lyrics to “Helter Skelter” which inspired the Charles Manson Family to murder people. McCartney's culpability is less of a stretch than the crap being spouted by news media Leftists.

Just read an article about a Loughner friend since middle school. Loughner kept a “dream journal” with everything he thought about.

IMHO the sheriff knows Loughner is more of a leftist than anything politically, so the sheriff struck first and created the lie about conservateive hate driving this killing, something the sheriff admits is his own “opinion”.

That sheriff is lower than a dog.

[. . .so the sheriff struck first and created the lie about conservative hate driving this killing. . .]

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik is chief law enforcement officer for Pima County. The congresswoman—and a federal judge who'd received death threats—had zero security at the Safeway event. If Dupnik was a vigilant, proactive cop rather than a political hack he would have provided some security.
