Act I of the politicization of the Tucson shooting was pundits and liberal politicians asking if right-wing rhetoric contributed to the violence.
Act II was conservatives rejecting this and pointing out, by the way, that the media did not rush to judgment when Nidal Hassan killed 12 people at Fort Hood.
Act III is the conservative fightback, as exemplified by this message from the Tea Party Express to its members.

The attack on conservatives and the tea party movement has continued over the past 24 hours. Media figures and liberal activists continue to falsely suggest that Rush Limbaugh, Gov. Sarah Palin and the tea party movement had anything to do with the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
They've launched this attack even though they know it is a total and complete lie.
During the past few days friends of the shooter, Jared Loughner, have stepped forward to say that they knew him to be a political liberal. He admired the Communist Manifesto and burned the American flag.* -- more..

Slates hate filled vitriol that conservatives would defend themselves.
Asking? I don't think they were asking anything. Even if phrased as a question it would have been rhetorical, at best.
Hmmm . . . If this is for real, which I am beginning to doubt, the TPE has jumped the shark. I checked their website and it appears to have not been updated for weeks.
1. Acquaintances DID say he was a liberal.
2. His mother was a state employee and most likely in a union and most likely Democrat.
3. His father was a “stay at home dad”.
4. I have heard nothing about a church upbringing. None at all. In fact he had a weird skull shrine in his back yard.
5. Among his favorite books are the Communist Manifesto.
All this adds up to a liberal upbringing with a liberal belief system.

Not whether he was a lunatic left or lunatic right--actually his community college school mate (Magyn Kelly interview)eloquently said he would try to kid and bait him into a political discussion, get him to open up.. but said he acted uninterested instead rather talk about more literary, poetry, philosophical subjects. Gold backing currency he did talk about; however, said the school mate.
No one seems to want to answer directly..but that's ok.
My personal opinion which means nothing in the grand scheme of things--and I know Slate, like everyone here, is Left in reporting--but does the letter to Tea Party members for donations exist [someone must have received one if true] and is it proper to raise money off this tragedy. Makes me Queasy, IF true.
It's not about being Left or Right--
And I truly have great respect for all the Tea Party has done. This decision to ask for donations at this time---hmmmm.
I just found it in my email and unsubscribed. It’s just too twisted to fund raise for this. The left makes up enough of their own ammunition we don’t need to give them our own fodder.

Not going to waste what little time I have left on earth reading a Slate article.....does it mention that Bernie Sanders beat everyone to the punch using this tragedy to beg for dough?
Already know that..he is wrong as well on his solicitation, doesnt matter who is first—is not appropriate from both sides.. FReeper below as said she had her email removed after getting the solicitation for money.

Guess that is up to your moral code. There is no time frame, in that case, if one has to ask.
As in "how much distance between" should protesters give to the funeral party [fallen soldier or private citizen] when burying their loved ones..so the laws state that have such laws on the books and always the "free speech" issues. Arizona does not have any protester/funeral laws.
The MSM and the Left has been smearing the Tea Party Exress for how long now? So this they say will make them the most money at this tragic time?

Do you need pictures to fund raise off from? Her name is used within the e-mail.
It is not about the Left or Right..it is about the people that died that day or were injured, but all the focus switched to politics as usual, not the victims of that day the true victims. The Left needs to stop being the victim and the Right is supposed to take the upper ground on this.
I can sit and blame Obama for the atmosphere this country is in--his "bullying" pulpit mentality; but does make up for the loss of the victims on that day, not make the Congresswoman get better anytime sooner. The focus became politicians and their words and actions AFTER a grieving father blamed the Tea Party and the Biased sheriff took to the podium and played politics instead of reporting the facts of the case? The latter ignited the firestorm of attacks on the Right, especially on Gov.Palin.
We would choose to believe that the Congresswoman who lies in a hospital bed who's future is unknown, would never never blame the Tea Party.
The Government's DHS was throwing crap to the wind as well.
The next election will not be here soon enough--then I will donate to those I want in office and not the POLITICAL ACTION groups fighting for their good of their own name!
