But does a dog simply running loose deserve to be killed? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Where I live, the game wardens kill any loose dog they find. On the spot. Then they deliver the dogs body to the owner if the dog has tags, and they also fine the owner. Dogs hary and kill wild life after they get into a group of two or more. I agree with the policy. Round here in Vermont, people control their dogs or they do not have them long.It is a crime for non LEOs to kill a dog also.

Can’t have the non-le0’s shooting the leO’s dogs.

By the way I understand the policy but down here the wardens use a little common sense.

Vermont law doesn't allow game wardens to kill any "loose dog they find". Now you're either telling tall tales (which I suspect is the case) or you like your law enforcement officers to operate outside the law.

I would never live where you do.

Game wardens are useless, too.

Yikes, no offense but it sounds like you live in an awful place. I used to have a whippet and that SOB would manage to jump or dig under the fence every now and then.

Most of the time the neighbors would just grab him or chase him back into our yard (which we also did to their dogs if the situation arose, even with one of their dogs who wasn’t that friendly). A couple times animal control picked them up, and we did have to pay a fine. Thankfully animal control just didn’t shoot on sight.

I would say maybe I lived in simpler times, but this was just in the late 90s in suburban Colorado.

If they tried that down South, it’d be open season on the warden.
