I think what we are witnessing in the Left is the emergence of an Obama cult which suffers as a group from a collective form of Obama's pathological narcissism. BTW, IIRC the term 'group narcissism' was coined by Erich Fromm.
While malignant narcissism is powerfully dangerous in an individual, the same is more dangerous by an order of magnitude in a group. Narcissistic groups are by their very nature psychopathic/sociopathic in that they have no conscience
As an aside, most groups of presidential followers do not behave like single organisms because the members do not relinquish their responsibilities as individuals. But Obama has sought from the beginning to be worshiped as a messiah. He wants his followers to form a cult, to abdicate their individuality and delegate to him the responsibility for thinking and decision making. This is what makes his group different.
The Obama cult showed just how group narcissism operates when the Tucson shooting occurred. It members immediately attacked the "out group" without for a moment stopping to think if its accusations were rational or logical. And this is just the tip of the iceberg and just the beginning...and Obama knows it because this is what he has been building.
It is becoming obvious that the Obama cult shares his narcissism and its collective refusal to accept criticism. This cult will, if I am right, continue to lash out with increasing vehemence at the 'out groups' (non-members) whenever it perceives a slight against itself or its leader, whether such slight is from another group or simply reality itself.
This is why Obama has not repositioned himself to address voters in the center. This is why he has continued to address only his small Radical Left group of followers. He is nurturing his cult.
Just guessing of course, but one can only presume that at some point he will try to use his cult to, in some way, take the rest of the country hostage (not suggesting what form such might take).
Just thinking out loud of course.
