Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman deeply unpopular with voters in his home state is unlikely to seek reelection, a knowledgeable source tells POLITICO ahead of the senators announcement on Wednesday
After many thoughtful conversations with family and friends over the last several months, Sen. Lieberman made a decision about his future over the holidays which he plans to announce on Wednesday, said Erika Masonhall, a Lieberman spokeswoman who declined to comment further Snip~
Liebermans announcement comes on the heels of Tuesdays declaration by Susan Bysiewicz, the former Connecticut secretary of state, that she plans to enter the 2012 Democratic primary field for Liebermans Senate seat. Rep. Chris Murphy also has expressed interest in the Democratic primary
A Public Policy Polling survey conducted in late October put Liebermans approval rating among Connecticut voters at 33 percent.

No loss. Lieberman is afuzzy-headed phony who has much to answer for. He is among the loonier leftists. He’s not mean, just goofy. Bob
Because he committed the ultimate liberal sin -
Support of Bush and the Iraq War.
Guess whose wife was Public Relations exec during Kelo?
Good riddance LIEberman
I’m not too surprised by this, (if true), actually.
IMHO, Lieberman used up the last of his political rabbits-in-the-hat when he went indy to beat Ned Lamont. I like Lieberman personally, but politically the guy is Arlen Specter with a nicer demeanor. The guy has flip-flopped his whole career, and I think people in Ct. are tired of it. He likely would have lost the next election, regardless of where we are in 2012 nationally.
So, instead of ending on a defeat, Lieberman goes out on top by retiring. And in the process, he clears the path for the next Dick Blumenthal.
That’s my take on it, anyway.
LOL. Algore was "pro-life" until he started running for President in 1987. His views "evolved". There are no pro-life democrats.
Joe Lieberman will be 70 by the time he finishes his fourth term as U.S. Senator from Connecticut in 2012. I'm sure his financial nest is nicely feathered and he has a very nice resume to look back on. It's simply time for Joe to call it a career - and he is. For the few political conservatives in Connecticut, his retirement poses no great loss or great relief. There may even be a ghost of a chance Connecticut voters will wake up and put a Republican in that senate seat, but I doubt it. Connecticut has been solidly Democrat for 50 years - but then, who knows? Meanwhile, we'll look forward to a viable Republican running for Lieberman's senate seat so we can vote without holding our nose, again.
I guess now we know why Christine O’Donnell decided to create a PAC....
And, 100% support for Israel!
I suspect, as 2012 approaches, and more dims see the writing on the wall,
they’ll choose retirement over getting beaten.
Commetucutt should have a commited communist to represent it.
Snowe, Collins, Corker and Gramnesty too.
The last of the honest liberals.
*Against* the property owners, I’m sure. Thanks, I didn’t know that. That Kelo decision is about as sickening as they get. Did you see photos of the barren fields where beautiful homes once stood? I so wish that Souter’s house could have been razed, and the other Communists’ homes as well, but the dirtiest scumbags always come out ahead in America nowadays... Bob
Ditto here. I loathe Ned Lamont...pompous, Greenwich limosine liberal.
Meanwhile, we'll look forward to a viable Republican running for Lieberman's senate seat so we can vote without holding our nose, again.
And also will cause the D's to have to spend money they wouldn't have had to spend here. HAHAHA!
If Joe is honest, he must be an ill-read dunce. Bob
He campaigned for the Republican presidential nominee.
I thought Lieberman was 75...
He’s only 68
Best to quit before illness sets in>>>>
Meaning quit before the voters get sick of you
He supports Israel. The left does not.
