That is because you were at an altitude of 10,000 ft. While you were up there it was mid seventies to low eighties down at the beach.

That was a few days ago. I just now went outside and looked and there is no snow at all up there now. I live in Kihei and have a straight shot look all the way to the top.

I did the sunrise too. I later realized what an idiot I was. Go watch the sunset. Looks just the same in reverse and it is MUCH warmer!

That’s what we did — watched the sunset because we didn’t want to get up in the middle of the night to drive up for the sunrise!

This was posted today on the TV website. Thought it was kind of cool. I knew the peaks on the Big Island got snow, but did not realize Maui did.

My daughter put that picture on Face book. You would be surprised of how many Mainlanders don't think it ever snows in Hawaii.

Your welcome. I’ve never seen anything like that before and was impressed myself.
I know many people in Alaska that would have loved a tool like that for backpacking trips.

It reached 82 degrees in Kaanapali yesterday and we snorkeled to cool off. That volcano is pretty high & does get snow every now and then. We’ve toured the top but the sunrise adventure will have to wait.
