It's perfectly clear that "them" refers to Arab and Pakistani Americans, so it is perfectly accurate to state it as "I will stand with [Arab and Pakistani Americans] should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

In short, don't ever let any left-winger tell you that the quote has been "debunked."
