I thought military affirmative action was a well-known fact.
I was turned down for Navy ROTC because I was white. Off the record, of course, but at least the officer who interviewed me had the integrity to admit it. He must have been getting tired of turning away qualified applicants based on skin color.

Affirmative action proponents and socialists both hold "social justice" above excellence. In their view, everyone should have a chance to be a doctor or rocket scientist even if that means lowering the standards of each profession. The fact that a medical patient or astronaut might have a lower life expectancy is just part of the price paid. The fact that the naval academy produces less qualified future officers is irrelevant.
Social fairness is the goal of socialists. The group is all that matters. Slackers may become the president of the Harvard Law Review and may even graduate with honors unearned...that is only fair.
Social justice is just grievance politics and entitlement taken to its ultimate extreme. Nature may have endowed you with less ability and drive...but government will level the playing field.

Much as I hate to say it, when I was still active duty, it was an article of faith that a competent female JAG was automatically a star, getting the best opportunities in schools, TDYs and assignments. And if she played golf - well, the sky was the limit.

What I think of MOST(not all) “modern””Naval(and “Military”)””Officers” would get me a LIFETIME bad on MOST forums. Let’s just leave it at that.
Like 98% of the other colleges, universities and professional schools in the USA do also. The real story would be if they didn't do it. Having experienced the ineptitude of an affirmative action doctor on one occasion I can assure you the Medical College of Georgia follows this practice.

An army is NO differant than The Navy.
The Naval Officers who did this have violated their oaths. Dishonorable Discharges for them.

Agreed.
I was politically incorrect even before the term PC was invented.
Even as a relatively uninformed kid, I never understood or agreed with the “anti-war (Vietnam) movement” or the celebration of adultery and abortion. I also recognized Watergate for the media-driven, overblown witch hunt that it was.
Not smart, just innately trusting in the general benevolence of most things traditionally American.
