Here is a speculative inside story. Apparently Abercrombie was still under the impression in December 2010 when he took over the Governor's office that Soetero aka Obama was on the level with him about having a Hawaii long form birth certificate when Abercrombie received Obama's letter to him to that effect in January 2009 and he read it at the Kalipolani Hospital that same month. So Abercrombie announced to the world when he became governor that he would dispel lingering all doubts about Obama's Hawaiian birth-- why not, since as Governor he would be in the ideal place to command the dispelling of the doubts. At that time (December 2010), Abercrombie also announced nominations for his state cabinet including the HDOH Director, Palafox. At the time there being no particular evident need from Abercrombie's point of view to have a corrupt politician in place at the HDOH, Palafox was not vetted by Abercrombie or the HDP as a go-along-get-along type of official. When Abercrombie struck the Obama birth certificate iceberg in January, he needed a go-along-get-along fall guy to bail him out by any means necessary to help him not look like a complete idiot by trusting Soetero aka Obama in January 2009 in public and then announcing that he would validate himself and Soetero aka Obama in public in December 2010. He asked Palafox to provide political cover for him, and Paladox refused to sacrifice his integrity. So Abercrombie, not willing to take any more heat in the press by formerly asking his own nominee Palafox to step down within a month of him nominating the guy, instead started a rumor campaign against Palafox in hopes of getting Palafox to resign of his own accord. Palafox did not take the hint since he felt he had done nothing wrong, so Abercrombie bit the bullet and formally asked him to resign.
This could be evidence of very sloppy political vetting by the HDP. The first requirement of political underlings is that they be, if not corrupt already, at least go-along-get-along. Evidently Palafox somehow escaped that fundamental requirement when he was vetted for the HDOH Directorship.
It is also evidence of very sloppy planning and thinking by Abercrombie. How could he have ever hoped to keep something like his decision to can Palafox a secret in Honolulu?
All of the above is entirely speculative based on Occam's Razor reasoning. I would cheerfully yield to a more likely explanation should some such more likely explanation surface.
That could well be.
Abercrombie knows he did not see SAD and BHO Sr with the baby at social events. So he lied on that for sure. But he could have thought either that Obama really was born in Hawaii or that Grandma Dunham had been able to get a BC that claimed a HI birth. Fukino’s statements probably led him to believe that the bases were covered.
In Dec when he came out swinging at “birthers” the article said he was mad about potential state eligibility bills and said that Bill Posey et al should have just asked HIM where Obama was born, rather than requiring official documentation.
Obama’s alleged letter to Kapiolani was “read” by Abercrombie on video and was not what actually ended up on the letter. Either he was ad-libbing from the get-go, can’t read, or the letter was his brainstorm and Obama signed the paper for him or else he forged Obama’s signature.
(Aside) Do hospitals keep copies of actual birth certificates? If so, do they keep them longer than they keep medical records?
In any event, Abercrombie’s discrepancies and missteps are highly suspicious - including lying about seeing BHO and SAD with the baby at social events, his office lying about Palafox not being asked to resign, and his friend suddenly lying to change the story that Abercrombie told him he had gone into the hospitals with a search warrant and hadn’t found a BC. Those discrepancies and lies should land an investigation.
Not holding my breath, but those with their eyes open can see this train wreck in progress.

No need, it makes PERFECT sense to me.
I think that Palafox has the real information on Barry. I also think that Abercrombie drank too much kool-aid, believed Sotoro and that is why he made the statements that he did.
When he found out the truth, he looked for cover.
As you said, Palafox had too much integrity to just lie and cover for him.
This just helped prove the point that Obama is hiding something very damaging. People are no longer looking at birthers as nut cases, but more and ore as people who had it right all along.
I think that Palafox needs to talk. I bet that if he has knowledge it can be brought out of him one way or another. It needs to be brought to light especially after the Lakin incident. bad enough that Sotoro is destroying the country day by day, most of that can be undone. But a patriot can not be given back the time he spends in a jail cell for doing the right thing.
I hope it all comes out and these people FRY for doing this to so many people.
I never bought the “out with the old and in with the new” theory of why Abie fired so many health dept. heads moments after being sworn in. They were already on board and had lied (or played loose with their direct quotes) about the BC, so why dump them for new blood? I also don’t buy that it was a coincidence that Senior’s BFF suddenly rose to head honcho and keeper of the records at this particular time in history.

If Mike Evan’s three reports (or more, last I heard there were 3) are correct that Abercrombie went so far as to send subpoenas to Hawaiian hospitals trying to uncover the records. That little tidbit makes this all the more interesting.
Most likely, Palafox being a long-time Democrat supporter would have realized the sensitivity of the request yet most likely didn’t think anything unusual would turn up. The records would be found and the Governor would release them to the press, shutting up the birthers and finally putting this issue to rest all in time for the 2012 elections. Oh to a a fly on the wall when Palafox was informed there was no there there.
Now Abercrombie has four problems and with the story growing legs, he needed to act quickly - hell, even Chrissy Matthews is questioning why the One just won’t release the damned things.
There are no records, Palafox isn’t under thumb and may talk, the story has grown legs with progressives now openly questioning other progressives and his rear is sore from the last call the WH made to his office. Chewed butt isn’t a delicacy in Hawaii, is it?
Abercrombie makes one last ditch effort to gather something, anything. He subpoenas the area hospitals and begins formulating a way to rid himself of Palafox; nothing like an unnamed source planted in the press of an unknown investigation into billing that Palafox may or may not be involved with.
The Hospitals have nothing on record so now Abercrombie is really screwed. He promises the WH he will take care of this and crafts a ridiculous statement with his AG hinting that something exists, but even Obama with all his power can’t release “it”, (btw, one Obama Nativity Story supporter explained that by saying the new “AG just doesn’t know the laws of Hawaii yet”). Abercrombie and the AG finalized their stories and released it to the press - hoping that most of the MSM would drop the issue.
Now, to get rid of Palafox and keep him quiet. A simple phone call to the reporter who has the “source” runs with it. Palafox is given a choice, keep your mouth shut or go to prison, either way you no longer have a job. If we knew the names of other players in this sage, there’s a good probability some of them will all of a sudden be out of jobs. Even worse with the DOH to the DNC to investigators and AG office including the power of the presidency.
Abercrombie might as well change his title to janitor the way he’s tried to sweep this under the rug. And his attempt to clear the good name of his friend, may have been the one straw we all knew was out there.
To the detriment of the US, we may have to wait until 2012 until we find out how many Obama supporters were swept away when Abercrombie opened the flood gates.
That is of course unless one of the few people in Hawaii and elsewhere who know the real facts of this matter open their mouths. Love of country should have forced unlocked their jaws long ago but we’re talking liberals here. No lie, no threat, no payoff, blackmail or punishment is to severe to those who break with the party line. Go after Obama and even reality can be turned upside down; as long as HE is protected.
Throw enough money on the table and things may just become Abercrombie, Obama and Snitch.
