Less than a week after a State of the Union address that relegated foreign policy to an almost parenthetical concern, the turmoil in Egypt serves reminder yet again how global events can surprise and demand a presidency's attention nonetheless. ...
Finally, as my former NSC colleague Elliott Abrams points out, Egypt vindicates President George W. Bush's strategic insight in his 2003 speech to the National Endowment for Democracy:
Sixty years of Western nations excusing and accommodating the lack of freedom in the Middle East did nothing to make us safe -- because in the long run, stability cannot be purchased at the expense of liberty. ... As long as the Middle East remains a place where freedom does not flourish, it will remain a place of stagnation, resentment and violence ready for export."
The window is diminishing, but not yet closed, for President Obama to seize the initiative and make emphatically clear to the people of Egypt -- and to whatever leaders succeed Mubarak -- that the United States supports their desire for liberty, prosperity, and a better future. Doing so now offers the best hope for a meaningful U.S.-Egypt partnership in the future.

Thinking like Jimmuh Carter?????
Unexpected & Surprising Developments in Eqypt Have The Obamah Administration Playing Catch-Up.
...and the following story must not refer to Obamah directly, but to his incompetent administration.
Oh, great. When Carter did in Iran, it was decades of our not dealing with problems. When Clinton did in half of the Balkans, it was decades of our not dealing with problems. When Barry lets Egypt slide, it’s decades or our not dealing with problems. When Bush takes care of a decades long problem, though, it’s terrible.
Face facts. You can’t elect a democrat and not expect to have some part of the world go to hell in a hand basket shortly thereafter. Ever democrat since Carter has let Islamic thugs take over part of the world for their jihad. It’s the democrat way of paying them off and that’s why Clinton didn’t take terror seriously. He thought giving them a chunk of the Balkans would buy them off. The same with Barry but in spades. Barry wants more of the world to be Islamic and can’t even admit that this country isn’t an Islamic state.
I hope the majority enjoy the fruits of pretending that you can elect a guy who won’t even provide enough personal information to get a job at Sears without having things blow up in our faces. Decades of not acknowledging that there is a good and an evil are the problem, not decades favoring a specific dictator over a dictatorial Satanic religion.
Whip cluelessness now! It's for the children!
Interesting that whenever there is a conflict in the middle east Obama always takes whatever side the Jihadis are on. Every time.
Really?
That’s giving them the benefit of the doubt.
I’d say this was just another facet of their opposition to Western Civ.
It is not on his agenda. Our current administation does not appreciate being sidetracked by reality. Too much social justice to redistribute.
