What part of “Shall not be infringed” is confusing to so many people?

No joke. I don't remember the 2A saying anything about a background check, or a license, or mag capacity, etc.

I certainly do remember the "shall not be infringed" part though.

“Background” check?

Yes, absolutely.

No guns whatsoever unless you can demonstrate that you can hit a perp standing in the BACKGROUND of a dimly lit nightime street scene.

Since my background is flawless, I voted yes.

After all, you're all that matters

Then how would You go about your private sale?
What if you had a relative that offered you a good deal on one of his firearms? You going to involve the Feds?

FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

No free citizen shall be debarred the use of arms. —Jefferson

If they’re too criminal or crazy to be trusted with a gun, then likewise to walk the streets. This is a sentencing / diagnosis problem, not a gun ownership problem.

“From my profile:

...

“3. The idea of releasing a person onto the street while denying him, under color of law, an otherwise lawful means of self-defense, is looked upon as an act of barbarous cruelty, let alone a violation of his rights as a human being.”

(Items 1 and 2 not being germane to the discussion)

Yes. Check for criminal records

crimes like ‘ talking trash against the state’ perhaps?

No thanks....incrementalism will make viewing Free Republic a crime.

convict crimes....put away violent offenders for good or execute them...

if you limit the rights of even non violent felons...then you limit their ability to protect themselves...right now if a woman says her husband threatened her, they will take your guns away even if there is no witnesses...

sorry but no deal on this one....

the right of the people to keep and bear arms does not have any such caveats

Really? Another gun related poll from a station with these call letters? That's just weird.

I voted NO. The operative word is ALL gun sales. This question does not cover private sales. If Walmart wants to check fine, just leave me alone when I am horse trading at the range.

Translation: "Since I can squeak past the infringement to my liberty whilst patting myself on the back, I voted yes."

Reminds me of the people who don't have a problem with magazine capacity restrictions because all they own are hunting rifles that won't be affected.

KGUN needs to be background checked to exercise their 1st amendment rights.

Bears repeating.

Let's see, we have a president who refuses to even release his damn BIRTH CERTIFICATE, but we need background checks for a right guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution?

No effing way.

Since I support the constitution, I voted NO!

It’s a huge waste of time and money. Have these laws kept guns out of the hands of criminals? Hell no.
