URGENT: Gunfire heard in Cairo's Tahrir Square as supporters of President Mubarak and anti-government demonstrators clash hours after the embattled leader defiantly said he would serve out his term in office.

lol, that was funny.
Pleasure to meet you, HollyB. I’ve always hung out on the Terrorism threads - but they’re all blending together now that TSIH the fan.
Get THIS- it happened DAYS AGO!!! We’re JUST learning of it and it happened within 24 hours of him being appointed VP.
Uhmmm...somethings really REALLY bad here.
Oh- and not only THAT- but the administration shouldn’t have been caught “flatfooted” as the MSM keeps saying in their attempt to cover for him. Catherine Herridge reports he was given detailed and frequent updates about the rising tensions in Egypt, the danger that it could break loose and after Tunisia he was again briefed this would likely spread to Egypt with the possibility that Mubarak could be overthrown.
This is a WTF moment if there ever was one.
There is definitely a power struggles, sounds like seperate centres of power.
Obama is a post turtle as usual, sitting on the fence.
mmm, mmm, mmm, Barak Hussein Obama...
It’s like we woke up one morning and we were all down the rabbit hole.
I think Bagdad Gibbs is left intentionally “out of the loop”. Plausible deniablity.
Side note: My cousin, who lives in England, (actually in Wales) just called. Says the country and media is in an uproar over the new Wikileaks info about Obama giving their Nuke secrets to the Russians to ensure the Start Treaty.
I would love to express my opinions about that, but I would be an immediate target of the FBI and CIA.
Glad to see you on this thread. It’s a good one.
LOL!!!
And then I switch to CNN...not a WORD about the assasination attempt. We have Client # 9 interviewing/kissing up to El Baradei and practically BEGGING him to be the next president.
Then we get Anderson Cooper at “an undisclosed locatinl for his safety” who tells us there are now reports of loud gunfire in Tahrir Sq.
But- not a WORD about the assasination attempt. Doesn’t fit with the narrative I guess...
It’s allllll journalists, are they ok, are they staying or leaving, are they safe, do the FEEL safe...
SO. The story is now about the journalists.
LOL!
Truer words were never spoken.
so according to media : No public appearances this weekend by Pres. Obama, though he appears in a taped interview with Foxs Bill OReilly and the celebrity superbowl party.
Gee, I’m sure there was something more important happening, help me out here, i’ve forgotten, begins with an E i think.......
"Hey everybody! Let's make the story about the journalists! Forget the assassination attempt and the starving ordinary people on the streets. The world deserves a Free Press with a Cute, Manufactured Narrative - ours!"
On second thought, Gibbs is probably tasked with making sure that everything is all set for J-Lo & Co’s Super Bowl visit.
England should be in an uproar. FGS, so should the US.
May he be impeached and soon.
0007: International energy firms have been watching events in Egypt nervously, particularly in the area near the Suez Canal. This podcast http://www.joc.com/maritime/qa-suez-canal-and-egypts-political-unrest from the Journal of Commerce goes a long way to explaining the issues around the canal.
Come now...you really don’t expect his party with J-Lo and Marc to begin just before the super bowl and end promptly after, now do you? What kind of host would he be? I’m sure the weekend has been slated for this event. Probably be too tired for photo ops at the local church on Sunday, too! I’m sure the world will be fine, though. He’s got his blackberry. George will be keeping watch for him while he’s out. We’re all in good hands.
FYI- Bret Baier will host Fox News Reporting: Egypt On the Brink in 30 minutes at 9 PM eastern.
Among other questions one hopes Bret can answer:
1) Did the president take any action after receiving briefings over the last two months warning that Egypt was in serious trouble and on the brink- that any unknown event could send it over the edge? Then, after the revolt in Tunisia, he was told this could BE that event...did he then take action? Or are they going to stick with the “no one could have seen this coming” storyline?
2) Why does Robert Gibbs insist the young man in Tunisia who set himself afire was motivated to do so because someone stole his food- when the rest of us know it was because of GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS- the man wanted to have a fruit stand and the government wouldn’t let him because he had no permit.
3) Why won’t the White House answer questions about the attempted assassination on the new VP of Egyupt that happened over 48 HOURS ago?
Heads up everyone, not out of the woods yet...
Twitter/IntelTweet
A user on a top Al-Qaida web forum has urged Egyptian militants to launch “rocket and mortar attacks on merchant ships in the Suez Canal.”
“Ghareeb al-Shabwani” called on mujahideen in the Sinai Peninsula to mobilize and focus their attacks on oil tankers in Suez.
Swell. But if the canal isn't well protected now then somebody screwed up. Big time.
Cautiously optimistic nothing will come of this threat. Bravado.
if revealing... please advise
I’ve actually been a little surprised they haven’t done it/something yet..
Thanks for the pings.
