Giuliani is Leading GOP Contender If Front-Runners Drop Out
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 01/25/2011 | Scott Rasmussen

So what if Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich decide not to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 or their campaigns falter in the early going? Who will the GOP turn to?

That’s what Rasmussen Reports asked Likely Republican Primary voters in a new national telephone survey. Not surprisingly the best known of the eight other prominent Republicans mentioned came out on top. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani emerges as the clear leader among this group with 29% support. Tim Pawlenty, who recently stepped down as governor of Minnesota, comes in second with 17%.

NO WAY JOSE!

I've tried to like and respect Rudy but I won't support him for president.

He is way too similar to Bloomberg on way too many issues.

Speaking of contenders; this poll question ranks right up there with the top "what ifs." But it still doesn't beat the all-time best 'what if' my childhood friend came up with one day.

"What if a giant grasshopper reaches through the window and drags us out?"

Romney, Palin, Huckelberry, and the Gingrinch must step aside and take one for the team.. Someone needs to put a leash on Bolton, Giuliani and the babyBush too... A dozen loads of scatter shots gets us the one till 2016.

Let three unknowns work this out. Pretarnished candidates stepping into pretargeted mass media kill zones punching the crap out of each other is a dream come true for the rats. I fully expect that we will $hit in our shorts, as that is what is required to keep this crapraft afloat for another run into the Potomac.

That’s a politically correct way of saying the American public would choose Guliani on or around the time hell freezes over. LOL!

The chances of Giuliani winning the GOP presidential nomination are zilch. He'd be eaten alive by the Tea Party.

Any candidate who chooses to be aligned with the dreaded neocons-----the eternal forces of Christian-hating-------cannot be seriously considered for office at any level of government.

Giuliani's liabilities are that he's a New Yorker w/ three wives; he is for abortion, same-sex marriage, lax illegal-immigration enforcement and gun control.

WRT national security, fuhgeddabatit. The very same political posturing that got Giuliani elected as NYC mayor wprevent him from becoming president. Taking a left-wing stance was necessary to enable him to win in America's bastion of liberalism. Such a history will not sit well om 2012. A sudden about-face would be a clear and futile case of extreme political pandering.......a candidate whose core convictions are subject to political whims.

In this Age of the Tea Party, among Rudy's huge liabilities is his personal life. Rudy's love life reads like a sordid tale from an X-rated paperback romance novel. Mayor Rudy, while a married man and father of two, got involved with his third and present wife, escorting her publicly, and insisted his lover move into Gracie Mansion while he was still married.

As for party loyalty, forget it. Rudy once endorsed a radical liberal Democrat--Mario Cuomo--over Cuomo's Repub opponent--who won.

Most egregiously, Rudy looked the other way when his patronage appointee Russell Harding --Liberal Party's Ray Harding's son, now in jail for government fraud----was stealing from the city's Housing Development Corp. and enjoying kiddie porn and gay vacations with his gay pals on the taxpayers dime.

Rudy would hunt down every gun, of every type, in every household in the USA and melt them down into scrap metal. Rudy doesn't need a gun. Like all rich liberals, he's got armed guards to protect him.

Rudy's vulnerability is his close relationship with Bernard Kerik. Perhaps Rudy ought to tell voters how he plans to use failed HomeLandSec appointee Bernie Kerik's personal, business and political expertise to help him win public office (poster laughs uproariously).

That, and pro-homo as well. I wonder if Rudy will wait until the Florida primary to make a move again.

He's got a speaking engagement coming up in San Diego next month and I'm already sick of his voice on the radio ads.

POTUS Rudy? No thanks!
