Indeed. Who is one to believe? The government or their own lying eyes?

Yes, both Republicans and Democrats play the same game but just differ on hiw they cover it up and postpone the inevitable.

If you consume more than you produce (trade balance), and considence the use of finite resources as "production" (fossil-fuel "production" is really "fossil-fuel use"), then you have to reach an end-point eventually.

The real structural problem is that we don’t really have a productive economy like we once did. Strip malls full of nail salons and storefront “financial services” does not make for a productive economy.

In the words of our dear leader, we need to “start making stuff,” although he is totally clueless on how that actually happens in the real world.

It all starts with energy and mining; if we don’t have cheap abundant energy, and don’t start digging up stuff to make other stuff out of it, we are just wasting our time.

Go to the nail salon on your way to the financial advisor. Yipee...we’re all rich....

The support for this argument was that every time benefits expired, hiring picked-up.

Something that was shot down by later studies, which demonstrated that the supposed effect was an artifact of the datasets, dates, smoothing algorithms, and other social program availability. The studies using more robust methodology have found little of that effect (it is there, but tiny).

“Unemployment fell because the Labor Department’s household survey determined that more than a half-million people without jobs found work.”

Yea Right! The Labor Dept just magically found a half-million people working?
This don’t pass the smell test.

” This officially sucks. On a month-by-month basis the number of actual employed people dropped by more than 1.5 million! That’s a huge decrease and what’s worse, the trend is awful, being unbroken now since the first of last year.” Karl Denninger

No - the govt doesn’t use the UI rolls. I think they do a survey.

10% is the benchmark set by the administration. Like one trillion was the magic number with the health care bill.

No amount of reality will bring that number above 10% under Obama.

Sorry for the late response, There is only one way left to fix this, that would be for it to collapse and rebuild it.

As far as the ME situation, it is quiet in front of the cameras, but still high potential for the SHTF scenario. Still watching closely......

Don’t the unemployment benefits go down as time passes?

BTW, good luck to your hubby on finding work!

Based on those numbers add 400,000 jobs and we will have a negative unemployment number. Headline Obama policy leads to -1.5 unemplyment. So what if 4 million plus still can't find work.

"...I’d say it’s the most creative numbers scheme I’d ever seen..."

I have to reserve that for the regime's Obamacare financial justification to the Budget Office.

What about the ones that have given up? Are they counted?
It is to the point that there was a HVAC Tech job opening and 1500 applied, 4 were called in to work for free or very little FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS cash an hour because they are all on unemployment and after a few weeks of riding around in a company van working then the employer would ‘pick the right candidate’.This job normally starts at $20 an hour for a seasoned senior technician.
