LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Lindsay Lohan was charged on Wednesday with grand theft over a $2,500 necklace that was allegedly taken from a Los Angeles jewelry store.

Lohan was scheduled to appear in court later on Wednesday for an arraignment on the single felony count.

If convicted, the 24-year-old "Mean Girls" star could be sent to prison just as she struggles to end more than three years of court appearances, failed drug tests and brief spells in jail stemming from a 2007 drunk driving conviction.

Lohan's lawyer has said that the actress denies the allegations and will fight them in court.

Friends have said Lohan believed the necklace, which has been returned to police, was on loan.

I recently went though my Mom’s jewelry and my jewelry box to have some old gold melted down. I melted better crap than that necklace.....and it definitely is not worth $2500.

I’ve watched enough television to know what’s going on and I’m disappointed in how many Freepers automatically assume she’s guilty. How do we know it was even her that stole the necklace? How do we know that the real thief isn’t Jamie Lee Curtis, who could be trapped in Lohan’s body?

What’s the latest on her “I hate men so much but I’ll sleep with a chick who looks like a man” relationship?

"Lohan isn’t particularly attractive and has no discernable talent. She was cute when she was little but cocaine and booze really did a number on her."

Yep, afraid so.

I’ll try the “thought-it-was-a-loan” ruse the next time I take a car out for a “test drive”.

I’m wondering who will kick the bucket first, this idiot or Charlie Sheen. Bets anyone?

It was worth $250 until Lohan was spotted wearing it. Now it’s worth $2,500. And I don’t mean just to jack up the sticker price to make it felony theft. People will now pay that much to wear it or one like it since Lohan wore it.

In fact, that’s why places like this constantly loan jewelry to movie and TV stars. It’s valuable advertisement. It is reasonable for her to think it was on loan.

They should take each other out. With a "bang" of sorts.

Not in this context. Maybe for sex, yes. For letting people off the hook, no. Women let people off the hook for looks and because ‘they’re sorry’.

It ain’t guys spending billions each year to make themselves up. And it ain’t about that ‘girls have to do all that for guys’, that’s just a straight lie. About the last thing a gal nowadays does is take orders from a guy about their appearance.

She should be put in protective custody-at Charlie Sheen’s
house!

-

She could be his driver. No, Wait!

She needs to complete the ‘Paula Abdul navigating roads&hillsides’ course first.

She’s looking quite attractive in that “Fatal Attraction” dress. It is almost identical to the dress that Sharon Stone wore to great fame in that film.

Obviously this girl is trouble, but seeing her in that outfit definitely softened me to her... or, well nevermind...
