Guess Who's Coming to CPAC? (Breitbart & Norquist Gush Over GOProud in Homosexual Publication)
MetroWeekly ^ | 02/09/2011 | Chris Geidner

Posted on 02/10/2011 8:46:00 AM PST by Pyro7480

...Calling this "a maturing point for the conservative movement," Breitbart minces no words: "If being conservative means rejecting gay conservatives because they are gay, then fine, I'm not a conservative."

..."No, we're not giving cover to bigots," he [Chris Barron of GOProud] argues. "What we're doing is separating the people who don't agree with the left-wing agenda from the real bigots. You can be against ENDA and hate crimes and federal safe schools legislation and not be a bigot. If you're Tony Perkins, you're a bigot. You're against all of that stuff not because of any federalist reasons, but actually because you're just a nasty, anti-gay bigot."

..."There are socially conservative groups who are a part of CPAC. You have the pro-life groups, you have education – school choice groups, all kinds of Second Amendment groups," he [Jimmy LaSalvia of GOProud] says. "Lots of social conservatives are represented at CPAC."

"And we're at CPAC. It's still the preeminent conference of conservatives in the country. The groups who aren't there are the anti-gay groups. That's it."

...Going to the substance of what he says is the primary reason for his support of GOProud, Breitbart says, "I believe, to the core of my being, that what I'm doing is supported by the vast majority of the people who consider themselves conservatives in this country."

...Barron looks at the landscape: "We've said all along that we don't think that the conservative movement is unwelcoming to gay people. There is a fringe element. A really nasty, anti-gay, bigoted element. And we have smoked them out, and we have marginalized them."

The truth comes out... GOProud's statements here and elsewhere all add up to this group trying to marginalize the traditional marriage groups.

"If being conservative means rejecting gay conservatives because they are gay, then fine, I'm not a conservative."

Being conservative must mean rejecting those who organize their lives around a vice. I've known some fine conservative alcoholics. As soon as they organize the Drunkservative organization, we part ways.

who exactly made Barron and Breitbart the preeminent, super duper experts and spokespersons for conservatism? “We have marginalized them” (?) Sounds like a liberal to me.

There is a difference between respecting a person’s right to do what they want to in their own bedroom, and not promoting homosexual relationships as being no different from and equally valuable as heterosexual relationships.

Unfortunately, if you want to be invited to the right parties, you have to pretend to see no difference between a parade of grown men in chaps, and a march civil rights march in Selma Alabama.

Good grief. Do we really have the time to go over all this? No one "hates" gays. I could care less what they do with their orifices.

MY beef...Marriage at it's very creation is biblical. The power players in the "gay community" do not represent most gays and they don't want "rights", they could get that with civil unions, they want to discredit biblical values and shove a rewritten "Word" down everyone's throat. That is not conservative...it's fascist.

“separating the people who don’t agree with the left-wing agenda from the real bigots”

If you don’t agree with the left-wing agenda then you’re a real bigot? Who is this homo?

Keep it light,
keep it bright,
keep it gay!

GOProud is conservative as long as it includes homosexuals as a special group, healthcare, social security, homosexual marriage etc..

Breitbart minces no words: "If being conservative means rejecting gay conservatives because they are gay, then fine, I'm not a conservative."

If being conservative means rejecting politics of group identification, are you still a 'conservative'?

Excellent post. Evidently, Brietbart & friends no longer hold to the same origins of morality that traditional conservatives use and they wish to "marginalize" us.

cpac has outlived its usefulness because it is suffering from DC beltway disease.

We need a major well funded alternative to occur at the exact same time and squash this (non)-C-pac

I wonder how Norquist’ Middle Eastern wife feels about him embracing the gay issue?

I’m not surprised that Grover Norquist is doing this. But I’m very disappointed in Andrew Breitbart.

OK, as far as I’m concerned, Breitbart is all washed up. Finished. Done.

It cannot be repeated too often. There is a big difference between homosexuals who do their thing (which is bad enough) and homosexual activists who want to impose their lifestyles on the entire country, including kindergarteners.

And as for GOProud, there is a big difference between spreading conservative values in the homosexual community and spreading homosexual advocacy in the conservative community. GOProud is only interested in spreading homsexual values. There leader has said exactly that, and it’s clear enough from their takeover of CPAC. It’s nothing but Log Cabin Republicans on steroids.
O

The power players in the "gay community" do not represent most gays

Why do you think that? Seventy-five percent of homosexuals vote for Democrats. All of the "Republican" and "conservative" homosexual groups (Log Cabin Republicans, GOProud) have a similar objectives as the Democratic party in regard to promoting homosexuality.

CPAC is going to come apart as a result of this. It won’t happen immediately, but when conservatives begin to understand the full extent of the factionalism that is being promoted by Norquist and others there will be a major backlash. I’m hoping Mark Levin will lead the charge against this poisonous nonsense. Pseudo-conservatives like David Frum will be rubbing their hands with glee over the success of this divide and conquor strategy.
