Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin has added a veteran Republican strategist to serve as chief-of-staff for her political action committee, Sarah PAC, CNN has learned.

Michael Glassner, an attorney and longtime adviser to former Kansas senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole, has signed on to steer the former Alaska governor's political operation as she considers a possible 2012 presidential bid.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Glassner managed vice presidential operations.

“He is no backstabber and now SHE IS IN CONTROL”

I have no idea myself who this gentleman is, but I’ll happily take your word for it.

He’s a professional organizer and a lawyer with a long history of controlling the chaos of a campaign. He worked for Bob Dole and for Bush, as well as for McCain/Palin. She knows him and obviously trusts him.

That’s the we feel. We did not vote for McCain in 2008. We voted for Sarah Palin. McCain’s name just happened to be on the ticket. She’s already President, in my eyes.

He ran the logistics on the VP campaign for McCain in 2008, so obviously she trust him unlike Nicole Wallace and other back stabbers

BTW questioning somebody just because they had McCain or Dole on their resume is silly

Not everybody on those past staff were incompetent......it was the FLAWED CANDIDATES that lost the election not the whole entire staff. Sarah is running things not Dole or McCain who halfheartedly went after Obama -

I don’t know or care what you think of Sarah but I bet you might agree that if Sarah wins the nomination that she will go full jugular after Obama would not mince words to go all out against him

I walked in that voting booth in 2008 and knew EXACTLY who I was voting for...there was no doubt in my mind it was her. LOL!

Depends on how she deploys him. Campaigns need a candidate with some sizzle. You tellin me Dole had sizzle? Anyway, once you’ve got an actual product to sell, you have to have flawless logistics, because sizzle can fizzle if it gets choked by mismanagement downstream in the organization. So, if he were the senior strategist, you might have a point. But if he’s going to be the commander on the ground keeping the machine running smoothly as it expands rapidly throughout the campaign, she’s got someone in him who can really help her do that.

Proud to have another Kansas connection.”

Amen. My son was a K.U. graduate as are several really solid, conservative people I know who now live in Texas who graduated around the same time or a little earlier.

This hire puts Wallace and Schmitt in a tricky position. This guy is a real professional with serious connections within the old GOP. Not the kind of person who signs up to work with the village idiot. Also causes problems for Romney who has spent the last two years glad handing the “GOP insiders”.

Romney is becoming increasingly desperate. Some of his closest supporters are trying to dissuade him from renouncing his religion later this year, but he may see that as his only hope.

Palin’s contract on Intrade went up over 8 points. Probably due to this news.

Politics - Sarah Palin
Will Sarah Palin announce a run for President?
Contract Bid Ask Last Vol Chge
PALIN.RUN.PRES.DEC11
Sarah Palin to formally announce a run for President before midnight ET on 31 Dec 2011 M Trade 57.0 62.7 62.7 10449 +8.6

But her nomination contract is only a couple of points above Huckabee and half that of Romney. I think I’ll dump some more money over into that contract.

If that's the best she can find, she can't be that serious about running.

What's she hired him for? His background is logistics, not strategy.

Cheers!

I wonder if there has ever been as much excitment over the hiring of a logistics guy by a potential candidate. :-)

Oh, yes, she is. The first thing any potential candidate does is to set up an exploratory committee. That’s what this PAC will be.

They will test the waters, see how fundraising goes, and all those other things that have to get done before an announcement. An official announcement closes off some doors. In SP’s case, she would have to give up her Fox gig. So candidates set up exploratory committees and string that along until the time is right.

I don't know. Even though she is experienced, I think most here on FR would hoot if a Democrat candidate brought Susan Estrich on board.

I hope things work out, but if you want to run a new style, winning campaign I would think you would want new style, winners on your team not establishment type losers. But that's just me...

Get ready!....She is going to suck the air out the room! in every room. Most candidates will be asked more about her than their own campaign! LOL!!!!!

People are “excited” because he’s a loser that worked on so many losing campaigns.
