You're precisely on target. There were far too few, notably the current occupant of that office.
And IMHO, that's a situation that needs to change. I'm counting the days (now 708) until Inauguration Day when our beloved country returns to our foundation of Christian values and the Usurper leaves 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
And what makes you think things will necessarily change when the usurper leaves office??? I might be stirring a hornet’s nest here but a lot of people on FR seem to miss the point. Obama and the dems/libs etc etc are the SYMPTOM, NOT THE CAUSE of America’s woes. America needs to return to its Christian roots from bottom up. Not from the Oval office.
And that requires ordinary Christians to pray and slog.
I agree that we must learn about the enemy. But unlike Gandhi's admonition to "study them more sympathetically to find the good that is within them", Islam must be analyzed in the same manner that a detective analyzes a crime. After all, Islam is criminal enterprise.
I respectfully disagree with your assertion that the average Muslim is "much smarter than most people think". I have taught many Muslims while a college instructor. They are indeed cunning and crafty with a good dose of "street smarts" but my experience is that their religion hinders logical, qualitative thinking skills. I also find that they readily cheat on exams without apology nor any sense of guilt.
As I said, study their religion in the same manner that one studies Marxism, Fascism and Communism. Once armed with the facts about those evils, the pure light and eternal truth of Christianity will shine its way!
The light of Christianity will shine through only if you carry a lamp holder (Psalm 119:105). Many Christians don’t bother about studying their own Bible, let alone other relgions. And they become easy prey. Correct me if I am wrong, but Islam still remains a fast growing religion with a good number of converts being poached Christians.
The issue here is not sympathy or rationality but understanding the kind of people that you are dealing with and what they hold dear. The average Muslim may not have the expected logical skills (which I don’t agree with), but he will defend his religion and its point of view with pretty much all his being-does the average Christian do the same?? You talked about lying and cheating-that’s because their religion sanctions it; Muhammad used deception far better than any religious leader.
All of a sudden he’s a history major and a lover and supporter of peoples democratic rights and destiny, spare me! He can here the cries of people in Egypt but he;s deaf to the demands of his own and the Iranian people. YOU LIE
Serious psyops campaign going on there. It’s still not over. Wait until things there go into the toilet. What will Soetoro say then?
In is out. Black is white. Lies are truth. War is peace. nobama is the king of Bizarro World.
Hmmmm. Obama is Ghandi now?
Sorry Zero, does not work.
Dyer was relieved of his command and censured in Parliament. Both Winston Churchill (who was pro-Empire) and Herbert Asquith described the massacre as ‘monstrous’. Some members of the public and figures who were not there believed Dyer’s lies that he was putting down a riot, and defended him. But the general consensus was that Dyer was a murdering bastard, hence the end of his army career and his censure...
"While the sights and sounds that we heard were entirely Egyptian, we can't help but hear the echoes of history: echoes from Germans tearing down a wall, Indonesian students taking to the streets, Gandhi leading his people down the path of justice," Obama said......"and of course, the prettiest sound of all, the Islamic call to prayer."
The flesh is weak. The idea is good.
He granted Islam something it's been unsuccessfully fighting to get for over a thousand years.
Yes, Bill the great statesman. He'll probably go with Jimmy over to Egypt soon. Maybe he'll use something like his Balkans script which was:
"Just forget that Austro-Hungarian interlude that lasted four or five times as long as we've been a nation. And, forget the seven hundred years of your history before that, too. Listen to Bill and it'll all be fine."
After that conversation Bill relaxed at his presidential desk enjoying his favorite pass time then reflecting on the world being his oyster. Meanwhile in the Balkans, Muslims dismembered and sold the organs of the men, women, and children, they'd captured. People Bill assured that they had nothing to fear from Islam.
Honestly though, Bill and Jimmy know better than to tell Muslims to forget their history. They'll just focus on how horribly the US has been to Egypt.
Regards
Is it just me or is Gandhi the most overrated revolutionary ever?
Ghandi was opposing the British who refused to shoot peaceful and unarmed people. I wonder how successful he would have been against Muslims? No I don't. I know how that would have turned out. The same as it would have against Stalin or Hitler.
Those against whom it would not work are always advising us to follow that unworkable strategy. If you can talk your adversaries into marching unarmed into a hail of bullets there is no chance you will lose, unless of course, you run out of bullets. They got lucky with Mubarak. After his friends, America, turned against him he chose the wise way out.
That’s more of a slap on the wrist at worst. Compare that to the treatment of a few GIs who played around with undies in an Iraqi prison.
Jallianwala Bagh was a watershed in modern Indian history. If the event didn’t happen, Gandhi would probably have been another confused lawyer who returned from South Africa. The massacre changed the focus on the Indian National Congress from bargaining for concessions for natives to demanding outright independence.
Like I said before, Gandhi had no gripe then did he?
It was a different world back then. In those days, people tended not to assume the worst of the actions of a soldier on their side.
Many people believed Dyer’s lies that that he was putting down a riot, and that was enough to protect him from serious criminal sanctions.
No doubt if he had been more vocal about his real reasons about instigating the massacre (which was teaching the ‘bloody browns’ a lesson), people might have been less supportive of his murderous actions...
