If the knives, forks and spoons were made of real silver, they probably had a problem with democrats stealing them.

When Charlie Rangel walked by, for example, you could hear distinct clinking and ringing sounds coming from under his coat!

And don’t get me started on the democrat staff. Spent half their time at the local pawn shops...

Silverware needs polishin'.

I need polishin', too.

But at least I'm compostable.

You have to wonder, do any “green” programs actually save money or resources?

Silverware is better than recyclable: It’s reusable!
Silverware needs polishin'.
Stainless is more practical.

Silverware and stainless steel, near the hands of congresscritters, is also stealable!

But the point of “being green” is to feel good about yourself as a “good person” who “cares about the erf” [more than those other people].

No, but that’s not the point of “green” programs at all.

I understand that. The “leaders” of the green movement are all about control, but there are many followers who buy into the whole thing and truly believers. I know quite a few of them.

Evil leadership, willing, useful idiot followers. Obviously, just another facet in the push to impose communism.

Agenda: Grinding America Down

I vote we issue each member of Congress their own personal standard issue WW II mess kit, and make them responsible for its maintenance, cleaning, and return upon their political demise.

” do they CRUMBLE when you try to use them to cut something! “
On the plus side, if the food really stinks, at least the cutlery is edible.

Stainless is more practical.

Put a piece of used aluminum foil in the dish washer along with silverware. The aluminum foil will donate electrons to the silverware to remove tarnish. The clean but oxidized foil can then be put in a recycle bin. Of course stainless should be used, because it's cheaper and less likely to be stolen.

"It turns out that the composting program not only cost the House an estimated $475,000 a year (according to the House inspector general) but actually increased energy consumption in the form of "additional energy for the pulping process and the increased hauling distance to the composting facility,"

The law of unintended consequences is apparently no longer taught to the lawyers who populate the government. It's been replaced by the hippie bleeding-heart axiom, "if it feels good, do it".

Exactly what "green" thing were they trying to promote with replacing metal utensils? What? Less detergent going down the drain and out into the ocean and alter the ph balance of the water and not kill a couple fish or cause some infinitesimal amount of warming or cooling in the water to cause all to die from global warming? What? And no, I'm not going to research this dumb a** insanity.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with Fed, State, and Local government bodies: Too many bureaucrats with too much time on their hands trying to justify their jobs. I have come to the conclusion that once in power they get into competition with each other to see who can write and sponsor the most legislation AND suck up to their constituents for re-election. So much for doing your duty and then returning to a civilian job, as the Founding Fathers envisioned.

Two of my Constitutional Restoration suggestions have always been: Reduced Congressional sessions and reduced bureaucracies/departments/agencies.

Number ONE on the my list has been States' Rights lawsuits and/or nullification, as a way back to our Founding Principles. Few wanted to hear or talk about it until recently. Now, it's all the rage. Maybe I should get my own Glen Beck style TV show with a blackboard...but think I'll use a white board 'cause chalk is messy...LOL!

Prior to the rats taking CONgre$$ in January 2007 the unemployment rate had not been 5.4 since February 2005. It took them until May 2008 to drive it back up to 5.4.

There were only four months between 2-05 and 5-08 that unemployment figures went above 5%.

2005-02 5.40
2008-05 5.40

The unemployment rates from the month of the 2006 election and immediately following the rats being seated were as follows:

2006-11 4.50
2006-12 4.40
2007-01 4.60
2007-02 4.50
2007-03 4.40

the GOP has succeeded in short order in one critically important venture: getting rid of the "compostable" cornstarch-based knives, forks and spoons that were a universally - and bipartisanly - hated feature of the House cafeteria operation.

It turns out that the composting program not only cost the House an estimated $475,000 a year (according to the House inspector general)....

Here's a money saving idea. Upon election each House Member gets a Ka-Bar, Hobo Fork/Knife/Spoon Diner Set (With Ballistic Sheath). At $14 each x 435 members that's only $6,090 And as long as they are Reps they only get that one Knife Set. If they lose it, they have to pay the $14 for a replacement.

If each Rep serves 'only' four terms that saves $3,793,910.

then get some TSA guys to man the machines and make sure no one takes anything out they didn’t come in with.

They could even give the congress critters full body searches just like at the airports.

Rep. Frank, you are limited to one full body search per day do matter how many times you go through the line.
