“However, rape and murder and vandalism are the responsibility of the criminals who do the acts. Otherwise, you open the door to claims that poverty, rage, mob mentality are defenses.”

What’s your point? Do you want me to condemn the attack and the attackers? Sure. Those were bad people that attacked her. I would never consider an act like that and will not accept anyone (and in one case had to reject FOR LIFE a former close friend) that engaged in that type of activity.

But you full-well know the bottom-line. Whether they like it or not, women, around the world, CANNOT meander around in various states of clothing without risking this type of attack, in many, many, places. You may not like that, but don’t take it out on me - I’ve done my part.

It is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT that women understand this...because, at least in this one case, a women who definitely should have known better, clearly DID NOT.

So your attacks should be directed at the culture (i.e., Islam in this case) that seems to be comfortable with this behavior - rather than someone pointing out that, whether they like it or not, WOMEN NEED TO BE CAREFUL.

(ok, have at it)

You did your part with your comments about cleavage and (all caps) “her responsibility.”

While many of us were concerned and not surprised when the crowd turned violent, this particular act did come as a surprise, due to the presence of women and children -— not to mention the security. The rape was *not* acceptable as demonstrated by the interference of the women and the soldiers.

Right is right, no matter where or what culture, else we are stuck with the consequences of relativism and raw utilitarianism.
