GOProud: No regrets for supporting Trump despite major donation to Democrat
Daily Caller ^ | 2/17/2011 | Chris Moody

The gay conservative group GOProud doesn’t regret inviting real-estate mogul and possible 2012 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to speak at a conservative conference last week, even though he donated $50,000 to former White House Chief of Staff and Democratic Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel.

“We have absolutely no regrets in inviting and promoting Mr. Trump at CPAC,” GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron told The Daily Caller. “Why in the world would we? Mr. Trump stole the show on Thursday, brought new energy and enthusiasm to the conference and delivered a hell of a speech.”

Trump was a last-minute surprise addition to the list of speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where presidential hopefuls traditionally test the campaign waters in front of thousands of activists. Barron said at the time that he “would love to see Mr. Trump run” and Trump has said that he is “absolutely thinking about it.”

Trump’s speech at the conference caused a ruckus among some younger members of the crowd when he said that Texas Rep. Ron Paul had “zero chance” of ever being elected president.

Barron added that Trump’s choice could be justified, given the alternative in the race.

“Would it have been better if he gave $50,000 to Carol Moseley-Braun?” he said, referring to Rahm’s arguably more liberal opponent.

Scott Brown: Where do I begin...?

I campaigned for him, donated to him, was thrilled when he won (I predicted here on FR he'd win by 5%), as did a number of people here on FR.

Then Scotty came down with DC Fever.

I suspected he went native when the Tea Party Express, with keynote speaker Sarah Palin came to Boston last year and Scotty was TOOOOOOO busy to appear or even record a 10 second “Thank you all for your support and welcome!” blurb. Hmmm...this is the same man that drags his entire family to every museum dedication, restaurant opening and sporting event he possibly can.

Then he came out with that interview where he pretended he didn't know who or what the Tea Party is.

Then he voted for the Frank/Dodd Banking Bill, the repeal of DADT and for the new START treaty. He votes differently from how Coakley would how? Those are some far ranging and damaging votes. I don't expect any Republican from MA to vote like a Republican from say, SC or TX, but dammit, those votes are unforgivable.

A dear friend of mine, a disabled Korean War vet, contacted Brown's office several times regarding some questions/concerns he had about the VA and his benefits. This man also campaigned for and donated to Brown, and didn't even get a call back. Say what you want about Teddy K. (and my nasty anti-Kennedy comments are all over FR) his office would have returned a phone call or email and assisted.

He's up for reelection next year. Fine. I (and pretty much everyone I know and many people here on FR) will do nothing to help him. If he wins whatever; if he loses whatever.

He's nothing to me.
