Probably not, but what you just described is a capitalistic ideal--the "efficient market." If it were true it would be a good thing.

Oh, thank you...For a while there I was sure the Wall Street was run by criminal insiders and super wealthy corrupt banksters looking for more suckers to draw in....

Now that I know it's perfectly safe from insiders and frauds, I'll dump a bunch of money in....

Computers don't do jack squat without software...  and the machines on Wall Street are performing according per some specification... that moral craftsmen SHOULD be refusing to code and implement --- But....

Most of these "automatic trades" are based on tiny shifts, but take advantage of huge volumes and then are held for mere seconds before selling off in some cases. I can't remember the statistic, but something like 70-80% of all stock purchases are held less than 60 seconds because they are being done by computers on micro-shifts of a stock.

On another note, a correction isn't a matter of "IF" but when. It is just a part of the market and those who can time it, can produce significant results. Those that can't, pay the price.
