Here’s my crazy question. Can’t one of the Republicans change his party to Democrat, vote, and then have a change of heart and decide to switch back?? I’m sure it’s not ethical, but neither is playing hide and go seek when you should be doing your job.

The problem is a lack of a quorum. They need 20 warm bodies, party affiliation is not the issue.

No they need a quorum of 20 senators. They only have 19.

Surely there must be at least one dead Dem senator that can show up and vote just like they do on election day.

They need 20 legislators for a quorom to vote on budget matters, there are only 19 Republicans.
