Funny - I first read that one sign as
“Day OFF rage”
I hope the docs did the right thing for these “hallway diagnoses.’ they should at least document the chief complaint, diagnosis, and treatment. Oh, and the patient’s name.
We had a big fuss here in Texas about treating family members and friends - which everyone does. (It’s not implicitly unethical.)
The State Medical Board finally quit claiming we shouldn’t, but advised us to only do so rarely or in emergencies andvto at least make a note of documentation containing the above.
It depends on the employer. When I worked for That Insurance Company, I accumulated sick leave for over two years, between my first baby and my second, so I would have it available to take maternity leave. Nobody considered this unacceptable; many long term employees had enormous sick leave balances.
When I needed to leave work for doctor appointments, I would make up the hours rather than use leave hours. (Obviously, a person whose job involves being in a certain place at certain hours, such as a teacher, couldn't do this.)
Something that used to happen (maybe still does) in the government sector was employees' being given a cash payout for their unused sick leave on retirement or separation.
They were diagnosing some of the folks with “walker pneumonia’, you could give them any name you wanted, and they would fill out the slip however you wanted...

I hear you’re very sympathetic to people under stress. My husband has worked 3 months out of the last year and didn’t qualify for unemployment. We still have to pay our taxes, which I’m sure will make the school teachers and unions happy, but it’s a little stressful for us. Can I get a sick note and a prescription for Xanax?
Thanks much!

Per the AMA’s own website...
Code of Medical Ethics Opinion 9.132 - Health Care Fraud and Abuse

I think the more interesting question is what else are these doctors will to do to 'game' the system. This is the area which the payers of medical services should investigate. The current system of payment of one built on trust of the doctor, well maybe that needs to be examined........
I wonder if one or more of the folks who received notes should come down with serious conditions, they would have cause to sue the physician for malpractice, claiming the physician’s exam failed to diagnose said illness.
Most physicians take a conservative bent upon government, ergo I strongly suspect The Wisconsin Medical Board will take a baleful look at this practice.
Socialists are not bound by the rule of law nor regulation when pursuing “change.” They are amoral humanists and like Muslims, it is perfectly fine to lie, cheat and steal (and even kill) for the advancement of the toltaltarian cause.
I hope you are right and this socialist gets whacked for using the honor and trust of his profession to dishonestly issue medical excuses to Leftists. We’ll see.
Ha...welcome to 0bambicare
Barefoot "doctors" of Cuba and China are the model here.
Why wouldn't you? I want the best for (for instance) my kids. If I don't think that I'm the best at what I do, then I need to find another profession.
Now, I can understand why you wouldn't want a proctologist doing brain surgery....but so long as the problem treated was within the doctor's specialty, what's the problem?
Hadn't heard about that. Armchair warriors are ever so intimidating.
AMA is the minority of physicians. 24% of US physicians belong to AMA. Don’t judge the rest of us by what those moonbats do.
