They were probably afraid of what Moochelle would show up wearing at the wedding. As it is, they’ll have to make sure she doesn’t walk off with their drapes when the State visit takes place.

Yes, both the Reagans were. Only Nancy attended though, I’m thinking that the President was recovering from surgery or had a health issue that prevent him from going then. My memory could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure there was a health reason why he couldn’t travel.
