Iranian Vessels Which Crossed Suez Canal Carry "Advanced Hezbollah Weapons" -- Israel
KUNA ^ | February 23, 2011

The two Iranian naval ships which crossed the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Tuesday morning are carrying "advanced Hezbollah weapons," Maariv Israeli paper reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

The sources told the paper, "Estimates indicate the two ships are carrying missiles of different range, rifles, ammunition, and night-vision gear... The voyage of the two ships is an Iranian attempt to go around the arms embargo on Hezbollah."

The paper also said that it is believed the voyage is an attempt on the part of the Iranians to "test the waters" with and gauge the responses of the Egyptian Supreme Military Council and its stance towards Tehran.

I have wondered if Iran would sink its own ship in an effort to blame Israel. I think it's possible.

Forensic evidence afterwards could implicate the Iranians but I think we now live in a world where people wouldn't care/wouldn't believe it. We've seen the old "spark in the central fuel tank" thing before and people don't necessarily believe it. If the Iranian ship goes down, the world will blame the Jews for the unprovoked attack.

With all the instability in the Arab world, I think some folks would see this as an opportunity to unite against a traditional enemy.

Israel is in one tough spot right now.

Iran is provoking them. The middle east is in a rabid fury and any act of aggession by Israel would be enough to turn the frenzied masses on their favourite enemy. Add to that the lack of support by their long time friend and supporter, America, and they are in a dangerous state.

We will never “vote” ourselves out of this mess......We will have to take our country back by force....

So will you be leading the insurrection? If so, why are you waiting? If not, who are you waiting for?

does anyone think Rahm was elected ????

Actually, yes.

Chicago is infested with left-wing libs and overrun with government dependents. I have no doubt he was elected.

Bank on it…this ‘President’ is just the break the Iranians have been waiting for.

I would not put it past this ‘President’ to have reached some kind of tacit understanding with the Iranians in this.

“O” cut Israel for bait, and I think it won’t be long before THEY are pushed to the wall!

The wave of disorder, violence and public protest which is sweeping the ME may be only the visible part of OTHER truly seismic and dramatic changes which have been carefully planned and orchestrated.

Force of circumstance ALONE may allow (compel) Egypt and neighboring countries to accept political changes that they would otherwise have rejected.

Forcing the situation now, after painstakingly (albeit crudely) cultivating the environment compatible to the changes it wants, Iran is daily advancing to where they will face NO obstacles.

With “O” in the WH and a clueless and corrupt UN, Iran is assured no POLITICAL opposition. (By the way, ‘world opinion’ has for so long habituated itself to accepting and condoning Muslim violence, in general and Iranian belligerence in particular that losing world opinion is hardly a deterrent to Iran … though world opinion is GOSPEL to the current US administration)

The only obstacle to Iran is a MILITARY one …the Israeli military.

The “O” administration is a stain on American diplomacy which decades will not diminish.

Given that Iran is currently run by a bunch of islamist religious freaks who believe that some magic mahdi is sitting at the bottom of a well waiting for all-out war to set him free, you're probably right. Iran wants a war.

Iran wants a war.

When Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for hastening the return of the Mahdi, you'd be foolish not to believe that's true.

I was wondering if now would be the time for Israel do act against those who have been itching for it since the other nations are a little busy with internal hemorrhaging right now. A natural diversion.

"Test the waters" my ass. These vessels, or others like them, will eventually be used to "escort" another Gaza "Mercy Flotilla", filled with weapons. The Iranians see this as a "win/win" situation: If Israel reacts to stop them, the Iranians will play the victim card. If Israel does nothing, Gaza will be restocked with weapons and personnel that will continue to attack freedom.

I say, send their Persian warships to the bottom.

I’m certain that a gang of Somali pirates could be hired for just such an operation, if the price is right.

Using military vessels to escort a convoy to Gaza wouldn’t work, in the “victim” sense. The waters and airspace of Gaza are still controlled by Israel and are recognized as being under their authority by the Oslo Agreements. It would be an undeniable hostile act.

Doesn't matter. Israel had ~400 nukes back in 2002, and it's certainly not less now - probably 600-900. That places Israel on the same order aas the "big 5" - the US, Russia, France, Britain and China. Actually, it ranks behind only the US and Russia.

Which means that Israel has long since achieved overkill. Old term, not much used anymore. But erasing every islamic filth-hole from the face of the planet is eminently doable and might even, to the more bloodthirsty among us, be great fun.

Then why is Israel not doing anything? We would do something if we had a President instead of a Pres__ent but unfortunately we’re kind of stuck for at least another two years.

It’s a circular argument—beacuse if we had a real president the Iranians wouldn’t have sent these ships through to the Med in the first place.
