During past wars including the Cold War, the United States launched a massive propaganda campaign, better known as the Voice of America. We piped it into the Soviet Union, Eastern Block nations, Cuba, and other places.
Why did we do it? We did it because it was effective. Now we weren’t exactly piping untruth in, but we were certainly piping our own version of it in.
Why would we go to all that trouble if it wasn’t effective? Should we allow the network of Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and Islamic extremists pipe it’s propaganda into the United States?
No!
If we had a free media in the United States, I still don’t think it would be a good idea. And make no mistake about it, we live in a propagandist anti-American dominated news, television and multi-media environment. That being the case, who provides the alternate voice to Al Jazera?
We’ve got our K-12 schools doing their damnedest to indoctrinate our kids. We have a university system that might as well be run by Hugh Hefner, N.A.M.B.L.A., Jihads R Us, and the worlds socialist machine.
Is this the environment that you see as providing the ideas that will compete effectively against the stuff Al Jazera will be pumping into our nation?
Wow, think of the full onslaught we have now, and then think of our kids seeing what those who hate us think too. It will be an almost exclusive cluster f of ideas negative to our way of life.
I don’t necessarily have a problem with Islam being understood by our kids, but I’ll be damned if I want some jihadist network making the case. I don’t want someone showing the heads of Westerners, and making the case that there actually is a valid reason for it.
Our Democrats have already got that presentation locked up. They don’t need any help.
I appreciate your point of view and what the basis for it is. I honestly do think it would be a mistake to add more negative propaganda to the onslaught we already have. And I honestly can’t see what truth is going to be revealed, that is going to embarrass America, as if we were lying to everyone.
