Only A Recession Stands In The Way Of $200 Oil (Interesting Prediction...)

Congratulations to Jeff Rubin, who predicted triple digit oil by the end of 2010 -- he's just a few weeks off.

The former chief economist at CIBC says this is about more than chaos in the Middle East. He points out on his blog that Brent crude was above $100 per barrel before protests erupted in Tahrir Square.

Now for his next prediction.

Rubin says oil is heading to $200 unless the oil spike throws the world into recession:

We have as much if not more oil than the Saudis.

What we need to do is jail these environmentalists for sedition and drill everywhere. And I DO mean everywhere there’s oil. To Hades with over-rated and in many cases non-existant environmental concerns.

When are we going to start ignoring the enviro-nazis and start drilling everywhere? This is just crazy.

$5 per gallon gas for a sustained time will destroy the Democrat Party for many years to come.

At least we don't have a couple of "oil men" in the White House!

Elections have consequences.

I’ll never understand why W didn’t just sign an executive order and start drilling in ANWR. After the SC ruled against him he could have pulled a Jackson. Of course, had he done that the left would have hated him. Oh, wait. They DID hate him.

Here’s a clue Jeff. We are already in a recession now.

Next step is depression.

Most of this oil speculation price rise is due to the fact that Obama made it clear he would destroy oil production in the US. And he has kept his promise.

A serious announcement that the US would immediately pursue rapid oil and coal development would have a rapid effect on prices. It won’t happen. What we are seeing now was the plan all along.

It only took $147 oil to go into recession last time.

After all the damage the democrat party has done to this country $5 gas won’t hurt them at all. There are just too many people who vote for democrats NOT because of their policies but because they hate republicans/conservatives.

Plus there are those who truly hate this country and love it that islamabama is doing his best to destroy it. Then there are those who are just plain idiots who are blind and brainwashed and DON’T believe any of this is intentional.

That would be a good question to ask him. I wish someone would. I wouldn't doubt that the idiot Rove had influence. Our Republic has been damaged greatly by the two Bushes (ADA act by 41, and No child left behind and Medicare Prescription by 43) They helped push us further towards a socialist Hell.

I pray the next President reveres the Constitution and has a Congress that helps roll back government. Realistically, I think the only way out is a total economic collapse and a reset to unbridled capitalism.

Governments at ALL levels are literally destroying our way of life.

The difficulty is that every barrel of oil produced anywhere is bid on by the world market. So even oil coming out of North Dakota now is bid on by all nations. This is because oil is so economical to transport by ship. You’d have to restrict domestic production to the domestic market. (That sounds like it would be popular.) Or promote NG usage whose price is more stable because it is not bid on by the world market (expensive to transport by ship). There is no easy way to bring down the price of US oil just in the US.

Now, gasoline prices could be reduced by producing more gasoline domestically, but with the current POTUS, that idea is problematic.

You've got that right. We have relatives who are rabid liberals and the utter hatred spewed from them is amazing. Livid hatred of Conservatives. Most of it came out after the Marxist was elected. Once they found out we attended Tea Party rallies they thought us the enemy. Needless to say, we hardly ever speak to each other anymore. It's kinda nice!

Make sure to disinherit the traitors.

It's funny you should mention that. One of the relatives happens to own land outside of Lafayette LA and gets a very nice check every month because a big NG line crosses his property. He and his wife are much better off than us. This same person hates the oil companies, believes in single payer, and believes in man-made global warming. A true nut case. I must say family gatherings are much calmer now --lol. The other nuts live in Chicago.

Well in that case....

If they should remember you in their wills, take the money and donate it to the Heritage Foundation. That’ll make ‘em spin in their graves.

No it won't.

Look at the damage the Dems have done in just the few short years they have had power and more than half the American people still support them. The media will continue to put the blame on the Republicans no matter what and the voters will put more Dems in power.

If the economy is bad and a Republican is in power in the White House it must be the fault of the Republicans.

If the economy is bad and the Republicans control the House it must be the fault of the Republicans.

If the economy is bad and the Republicans control the Senate it must the the fault of the Republicans.

If the economy is bad and the Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House.....wait, when was the last time that happened?

they can make it $200, but that doesn't mean people can afford it...
