Warner Bros. to Charlie Sheen: You're Fired!

Warner Bros. has just fired Charlie Sheen from "Two and a Half Men."
Warner Bros. issued the following statement: "After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on 'Two and a Half Men,' effective immediately."
The statement does not say if the show will go back into production.
UPDATE: A source at Warner Bros. says no decision has been made on whether the show will come back.

I don’t understand this. They were getting lots (more than any publicist could provide) publicity on Charlie Sheen. He is a nutcase in personal life, but appeared to be showing up for work, doing what he was told (including the part that he carried his sleep-around character from the show into real life, hanging with multiple prostitutes and acting crazy). The show was a ratings leader. What harm would it have been to keep a lunatic like that going as long as he kept showing up doing his job?
