TOKYO (AP) — Government official says shaking, smoke at Japanese nuclear plant facing possible meltdown.
We will know the SHTF when they order mass evacuations.
All experts keep saying “No Chernobyl is possible at a light water plant.” So let’s just hope they’re right about that!
The older you get on planet ape, the more you realize there really are no experts.
Been searching, can’t find any more info. Hope containment vessel didn’t rupture.
Major explosion it seems. Reactor building #1 lost most of its concrete wall. Not sure about the containment structure or of any escaping radiation. 350 times more radiation around plant they’re saying however and Japanese TV giving instructions for avoiding radiation contamination.

No kidding. I can’t believe how many posters here can’t keep things in perspective, Chernobyl didn’t get hit with a 9.x earthquake plus a tsunami, yet puked out more radiation than all western nuclear powerplants combined. I’ll bet anyone here these Japanese plants won’t change that fact. That reality shows the stark difference in design and operation between western and Russian nuclear power plants.

A friend was able to find that his sister is ok. He’s waiting on news about his aunt and cousins now. They are in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
Thanks. I knew they were not close. I read too much about Chernobyl and had terrible dreams last night and they were in vivid color. People were changed into monsters and trees had the oddest shapes. A whole town was made up of these people. Very, very interesting.
I remember right when kiddofspeed went online (on Angelfire, before elenafilatova.com and before it was discovered to be a hoax). Pretty eerie in its original form, and I can’t believe it was 7 years ago!
