Chile to New Zealand to Japan to California?

That's my thinking. If not California, at least somewhere along the NW Pacific Coast. Imagine wiping out Seattle or San Fran?

“Obama would ask what did America do to deserve this?”

I think he’s more interested in his golf swing.

Earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear meltdowns and now erupting volcanoes...what’s next for Japan?

North Korea?

That's right. There is a certain type person who upon having a thought, or impulse, is unable to think beyond that particular idea. I've long suspected them to be the obsessive-compulsive sort who once a thought/impulse enters a region of their brain, they are incapable of any subsequent rational thought beyond whatever it is that is on their mind. Not to different from a cat that just had it's hair disturbed.

Why should the Japan quake of 2011 be more cosmically divine origin that the Tokyo quake of 1923 which killed over 100K. Why wasn't the Tunguska explosion of 1908 a sign of the end times while the Japan earthquake is? On and on one could go with this.

These events in Japan are similar to those preceding Krakatoa’s explosion and demise. Check it out.

That’s a bunch of crap.

If a red/brown dwarf existed in our own solar system, we’d have found it by now, considering we’ve been able to detect brown dwarfs 10 light years away.

I had a discussion with my father in law last night over what would be worse as a result of this event (aside from the tragedy itself):

1 - the enviroweenies and their calls for “no more nuke plants”

2 - the “End Times Are Coming” freaks

Heck, maybe its the other way around. Either starting point, volcano or earthquake is letting off a whole lot of energy.

Not even close. What possible impact could the folks discussing the end times have on your life? Now, enviroweenies, thats another story.

I would think the enviroweenies reaction to nuke plants surviving perhaps the worst earthquake in recorded history by demanding more windmills is bad but throwing the end-of-worlders into the pot only makes matters worst.

The enviros probably win this one - the end of worlders mostly just annoy, but if they get too serious they can be a minor to moderate inconvenience to the rest of us.

After I saw it, and the critter was done for, I started wondering what you’d do with a couple of thousand tons of irradiated lizard meat lying in the middle of the street. How do you go about cleaning that up?
