Just yesterday, I watched a 300 pounder use her EBT card to buy a large fountain drink and a kingsize candy bar.
Afterward, she counted change to buy 2 packs of cigarettes.
The place was crowded so I didn't, but I just about blew a gasket.
And of course she has health issues, or will.
What bothers me is seeing a train of 3 shopping carts packed with groceries and invariably a Latina using a EBT card, she is buying groceries for a house full of people, but to the State, she is actually a single mother of 4 children or what have you.
Sterotype?
Yeah, maybe, then when she piles the groceries into a brand new Explorer or other SUV it bugs me that “I” have to dig lint out of my wallet to buy my meager amount of supplies.
Welcome to my world. I work at a convenience store. I see people come in and buy JUNK on their EBT Cards everyday. They use their cash for the “important” stuff like lottery tickets, cigerettes and beer.
It is infuriating to watch the waste of money that WE pay for.
