The IAEA does absolutely nothing to reassure me about anything.

But the point is they have been running around to every press conference telling the world all is fine, we have nothing to worry about yet they aren’t even in Japan, let alone at the nuke plant...

Incredible. Of course the UN response is not surprising or that necessary in this case.

But the industry’s response to this reminds me of the oil blowout fiasco. In both cases you had industries that had 50 years to prepare for disasters acting like they had not a clue on what to do. Homegrown portolet looking contraption built as an adhoc “cap” for the oil blowout (pre-built one should have been sitting on the shelf ready to go). Now for the nuke disaster we’re told the plugs for the portable generators wouldn’t “fit” and now there is talk of helicopters dumping measley water connons on overheated nuclear reactors. The mind reals at the mass incompetence of both of these industries and lack of disaster preparation.

Accidents will happen and I accept that. And my nuclear engineer friends tell me what’s happening in Japan is not likely to happen here due to design differences and other factors however the reaction to this disaster by the industry in general is troubling. No one knows what to do.

Since the end result of the “Japan Syndrome” will be that Nuclear is too toxic to handle from now on, do you think the IAEA will advise Iran to stand down re: their Bushehr* power plant?

The IAEA needs to tell Iran, that as an earthquake prone region, their reactor designs require review by the UN “science council”.....you know, the folks preaching AGW nonsense....
