Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) "would never consider" endorsing Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president again in 2012 unless Romney repudiates the health reforms he sought as governor, a source close to DeMint said Thursday.
A source close to the conservative icon emphasized that, despite comments to The Hill indicating that Romney shouldn't shoulder all the political blame for the Massachusetts healthcare plan, DeMint wouldn't endorse Romney again unless he admits the plan was mistaken. "It's obvious Jim was just trying to be nice to the guy he backed over McCain, as many conservatives did in 2008," the source said. "But he would never consider backing Romney again unless he admits that his Massachusetts health care plan was a colossal mistake."
DeMint told The Hill that he hadn't decided who he would endorse in the 2012 Republican presidential primary and said that Romney wasn't entirely to blame for the elements of the Massachusetts healthcare plan that conservatives now deplore.

Good for Demint, but he shouldn’t endorse Romney in any event.
Ping. Other article was cherry-picked.
Good for Demint, but he shouldnt endorse Romney in any event.

Exactly.
That shouldn’t be a problem for Romney. He has always been willing to say anything or take any position that advances him. The man has as much credibility as the Breck Girl.
I usually support and like DeMint...But this is a major bone of contention for me!
Right. I don’t like the idea that DeMint left the door open like this. Even if Romney never enacted RomneyCare, he is a flawed candidate.
Backtracking after his staff read the reaction on the blogs and forums this morning.
Indeed he shouldn’t. This almost makes it sound like he will if Mitt sounds a little contrite, however. I don’t like it.
I won’t vote for Romney regardless.
it’s really a toss up who has nicer hair.
it might come down to a dance-off.
Somebody is playing CYA now...
This is the exact opposite of something posted an hour or two ago.
He hasn’t done it so far. What’s holding him back?
LLS
...yes, I know, why is why I posted it. I don’t know if the liberal Hill is trying to make trouble, or DeMint’s office clarified his remarks, but the Hill has two largely inconsistent stories on the same day, on the same topic.
Indeed he shouldnt. This almost makes it sound like he will if Mitt sounds a little contrite, however. I dont like it.

The GOP nomenklatura are certainly feeling very self righteous and self confident right now. I think they mistook the Tea Party’s 2010 resurrection of their sorry asses as their own invincibility.
Personally, I am done with them. Weighed in the balances several times now, and ALWAYS found wanting. To oblivion with them.
sounds to me that Romney is seeking De mints support behind the scenes.
Romney needs to denounce homosexuality and other liberal social positions too.
I’;ve had enough of this liberal crap, openly serving homosexuals, Manning , teaching it in schools, marriage, DOMA.
It is time to say no more to these mentally sick people and make a stand.
The majority of the country support normal healthy families and marriage so speak up for a change
Just SAYING he was wrong doesn’t right the wrong.
