Its because we do not take the time to talk with them and discuss our differences face to face. In fact I recall that it was well known by all who listen to NPR that Bush and his warmonger buddies refused to talk and only wanted to bomb first and ask questions later. This was said to have created an attitude that made trillions of Muslims (who formerly loved us) to get mad and become terrorists that would strap bombs on their kids to get back at us.

well we had been unofficially at war with them way before that. if you look at lend-lease and aid to the UK and USSR and some of our naval acts before that we weren’t exactly bystanders before they declared war
All I ask is that we treat the Islamic world with the same level of humanity that Sherman treated George. In the end it would save a lot of lives and improve the quality of life in Africa and the Middle East.
