I saw one of these fly low-level over the Rose Bowl Parade a couple of times - amazing!

Great! But what’s it doing over the Pacific? Are we attacking Australia?

When I realize that probably some 20-25 year old “KID” is flying that ..... it sure challenges my perspective on my own life!

The B2 takes my breath away. I’ve been lucky enough to see quite a few flyovers. It never gets old.

“It’s 5700 miles to Libya, we got a full rack of bombs, half a pack of cigarettes, we’re in an invisible plane, it’s dark... and we’re wearing sunglasses.”

“Hit it.”

I live under the flight path of CONUS stationed Spirits (figure out where yet?) and I see them going and coming and I say a prayer of thanks for the drivers and the folks on the ground they protect from angels 30.

I see them refueling under a tanker headed east and three astern.... I guess they need drink after takeoff with a heavy load in the rotary racks....

However, I truly admire the Warthog drivers that I see most days heading to and from practice, they were indispensible several times in my career.

Hogs rule (no, NOT a college team).

Best

An expensive piece of of useless cold war junk that costs more than $1 Billion a pop so it’s too expensive to risk in an actual war or kinetic military engagement like Libya. Should have bought some non-stealth bombers for a lot less that can actually be used in these kinds of situations rather than expensive strategic bombers.

Totally unrelated, but figured everyone here would enjoy this.

I was watching the Military Channel this morning, and they had an hour Great Planes show on about the B-58 Hustler. Always thought it was one of the most beautiful planes ever..loved to build the Revell model as a kid.

Anyways, they're talking about the ejection seats for the three man crew...because it was a Mach 2 bomber, the crew needed much more protection if they had to eject. The engineers designed a capsule like device that pulled down over each aircrew before the seat ejected. They were confident it woudl work, but there was a lack of volunteers to test the seat at Mach 2. So the USAF got brown bears, strapped them into the front seat....the co-pilot flew the plane, and they blew the bears out at Mach 2. Did the test 3 times, the bears survived everytime..non the worse for wear..
