US May Supply Gaddafi Rebels With Weapons
SkyNews ^ | March 25, 2011 | Robert Nisbet

Western diplomatic sources have confirmed to Sky News that the US is considering the legality of arming the Libyan rebels.

One of the unintended consequences of United Nations' Resolution 1970 was to starve the rebels of the weapons they would need to take on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

It requires all UN members to "immediately take the necessary measures" to prevent the supply or sale of weapons to the Libyan government - with no exemption for anti-Gaddafi forces.

But Sky News now understands the US is looking at a legal framework to allow limited supplies of arms to the rebels, if they can prove they need them to defend themselves from attack.

Great!

A "top commander of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan" is trying to kill Americans in order to establish a radical Islamist republic there and we are sending arms to his brother, Abu, so that he can try to establish a radical Islamist republic in Libya and gain control of the Billions of dollars of oil revenue that Libya brings in.

This is the Charlie Foxtrot that happens when the American electorate is dumb enough to elect an Affirmatice Action candidate as President of the United States.

During a break from the fighting, Abu Sultan explained that he is no stranger to bloody battles. He traveled to Iraq in 2003, incensed by the U.S.-led invasion. His brother Hassan blew himself up near a U.S. Marine vehicle, killing the Americans. Abu Sultan called home to tell his mother, and Hassan was celebrated as a martyr in the eastern Libyan city of Ajdabiya. Another brother, Abu Sultan said, has become a top commander of al-Qaeda, and is based in Afghanistan.

Obama sent guns to Mexico that killed LOE. Why not arm al-Qaeda?

And Obama’s not a muslim. (sarc)

Maybe the Pentagon is looking for ways to more cheaply transfer assets from one theater of operations to another.

The only problem with this method is we'll get the bullets back before the rifles.

One big problem with this. The Rebels are back by AQ and given a choice, I have a feeling the rebels would be more loyal to them, then us.

>>> US May Supply Gaddafi Rebels With Weapons

I am fuzzy on the legality.

Does it require Congressional consent? Or Congress can only use committees to ‘investigate’ after the fact?

Disarming Americans and arming Mohammedans. The Kenyan sure doesn’t leave you wondering whose side he is on.

You would have thought we learned our lesson after arming “the rebels” in Aghanistan when the Ruskies were there.

Where is my U.S. Government supplied AK47 and Ammo?

Too bad Lybia didn’t have a Second Amendment.

First thing I thought as well when I saw the headline.

Look how well that worked out for us!

Heck, why don’t we fly in jihadis from Iraq and Afghania too.

Can you imagine the reaction in places like Israel and India, under daily and constant threat from jihadis.

What’s next, arming Talibs directly (without Paki assistance using American money as is the case now) and taking on Karzai?

WowoWOW!

We know nowhere nearly enough about who these ‘rebels’ are or what they would do with power were they to get it. This is no time to be sending weapons into that country.

OBAMA IS ARMING AMERICA’S ENEMIES NOT HIS.

does anyone still had any doubt where obama’s loyalty lies.

This is the reason that our founding fathers required that both parents be American citizens. NO mixed loyalty
