If that headline sounds like Orwellian insanity I can't blame you. The sad truth is that more and more people seem to be taking 1984 as a "how to" guide instead of as a dire warning.
We live in strange times, and some pigs are more equal than others. The pig in question is Safoorah Khan. She was employed by a school district just outside of Chicago.
During her first year of employment there, she suddenly decided that going on Hajj was absolutely essential.
For those that don't know Hajj is a pilgramage to Mecca that each Muslim must make once in a lifetime. Safoorah Khan decided it absolutely had to be last year, and requested three weeks of vacation to go. Right at the end of the school year, when teachers are busiest.
The school thought her request was outrageous, after all her contract is only for between 180-190 days a year. She gets tons of vacation time already. The end of the year is an absolutely critical time for her to be there anyway.
So, they fired her when she left on her cushy vacation right before she was scheduled to have months off for summer break. That should be the end of the story right?

She was poking the school district with a stick to get them all riled up. Muslims seem to do a lot of that (look at the Portland bound flight today which was diverted to Chicago). Now Holder and Co are poking us with a stick. No way a one time Hajj must be made during the first year of employment. Unreasonable not reasonable accommodation.
I have to go on a pilgrimage to Ireland every March 17th. and I demand my employer pay me and give me the time off.
As it relates to using percieved victimhood to bully your way through life, being Muslim is the new black.
Why can’t we start with facts? Is she even eligible for three weeks off with or without pay given that she has less than 1 year of service? Has the school district previously either allowed or disapproved a similar length request? Is there anything in the union contract that discusses leaves of absence? Are there any special provisions if the leave is for “religious” purposes?

Let’s start a religion that requires members be paid $250,000 a year and that they may only work one week in each calendar year. Then we can accuse anyone who objects of being a racist hater and threaten to kill them. Liberals will love us. We will be showered with grant money and the really stupid things we say will be ignored. Anyone who criticizes our group will be destroyed by the press.

Obama sure seems to be going out of his way to give Muslims special treatment isn’t he?
I think this is a short-sighted pr campaign to convince the Muslim world that our 3 wars over there aren’t a crusade. Of course, 3 wars speaks a lot louder than 3 weeks of vacation...
Yeah but Blacks have a history of mistreatment, I know, I saw it. Muslims have no such history. Even the Black Muslims owe any mistreatment to race and not religion and that is, frankly, in the past.
Another important distinction: Your race is an un-changeable part of your dna. Your religion is a changeable idea.

Obama’s administration betrayed everything this country represented. His outreach to Muslims encouraged persecution of minorities in many Arab and Muslim countries while his goons in the DOJ are defending the rights of a Muslim to take advantage of this kind and generous country. To Obama and his goons enough is enough.

THESE ARE INSTRUCTIONS HANDED OUT TO ALL OFFICERS AT C.I.D COURSES AND ANTI-TERRORISTS COURSES IN THE BEDFORDSHIRE FORCE/SERVICE UNITED KINGDOM
Bedfordshire Police’s rules regarding terrorists and dangerous criminals:
If they’re non-Muslim
• Consider the most opportune time of day to be able to arrest suspects with minimum resistance
• Apply all necessary force to enter the premises and arrest suspects accordingly.
If they’re Muslim:
• Community leaders must be consulted before raids into Muslim houses.
• Officers must not search occupied bedrooms and bathrooms before dawn.
• Use of police dogs will be considered serious desecration of the premises.
• Cameras and camcorders should not be used in case of capturing women in inappropriate dress.
• If people are praying at home officers should stand aside and not disrupt the prayer. They should be allowed the opportunity to finish.
• Officers should take their shoes off before raiding a Muslim house.
• The reasons for pre-dawn raids on Muslim houses needs to be clear and transparent.
• Officers must not touch holy books or religious artefacts without permission.
• Muslim prisoners should be allowed to take additional clothing to the station.
