The Ultimate Republican Candidate Response to the Birther Issue
His Master's Voice | 3/30/11 | HMV

Posted on 03/31/2011 2:30:59 PM PDT by Hillary'sMoralVoid

Republican presidential candidates have varying opinions on the "birther" issue. All should respond in this manner. "While I personally believe that President Obama (was/wasn't) born in this country, but any public official, especially the President of the United States, is responsible for resolving any doubts that the public has about his or her eligibility. Given that a substantial portion of the population (over 50% in some polls) have doubts about Preesident Obama's eligibility, and given his pledge of openness, it is incumbant that our president address this issue to the satisfaction of the American public. He should have nothing to hide!"

Our candidates need to stop hiding from this issue!

A minor edit and I am 100% on board with this.

“Every public official, especially the President of the United States, is responsible for resolving any doubts that the public has about his or her eligibility. Given that a substantial portion of the population (over 50% in some polls) have doubts about President Obama’s eligibility, and given his pledge of openness, it is incumbent upon our president to address this issue to the satisfaction of the American public.”

My reasoning: I don’t care what the candidates FEELINGS are. I care where they stand on the necessity of eligibility. The focus should be on satisfying the demands of the public rather than making a statement one way or another.

Just my view. It probably isn’t common here.

If Barry can’t resolve the issue with legitimate documents, he should resign. How hard could it be?

That is normal political BS. How about Trust but Verify? It worked with the Soviet communists it may work on ours.

Well stated, why is it a FReeper can write s single, concise paragraph, that is reasoned, well stated and in no way can be construed as “bomb throwing”, while our congress critters, with their giant staffs, can’t figure it out.

Better answer:

“I have no idea where he was born, so what difference does it make what I believe?

“Mr. Obama could very easily end this debate if he would just produce a birth certificate.”

A minor edit...

Yours is much improved for another reason. It matters not a whit where he was born, because whether its Kenya, Hawaii, or the moon... he's not natural born based on paternal facts.

Well, I know of one leader who has had it right all along, and never wavered:

November 14, 2008

“I and others are concerned that this issue be properly investigated and decided before Senator Obama takes office. Otherwise there will be a serious doubt as to the legitimacy of his tenure. This doubt would also affect the respect people have for the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. I hope the issue can be quickly clarified so that the new President can take office under no shadow of doubt. This will be good for him and for the nation.”

-- Alan Keyes, explaining why he had filed suit in order to obtain documentation which would prove whether or not Barack Hussein Obama is qualified under the Constitution to serve as President of the United States

Any public official failing to act on this matter is in violation of their oath to "...protect and defend the Constitution of the United States...".

If a usurper is allowed to skate on this, we'll have to ok the election of spies and traitors...maybe we already have; in the interest of National Security, this should be investigated now, and throughly.

If he's in there wrong, we need him gone.

Well, there's one big problem with your proposal for a GOP response and the courts are very conscious of that problem.

The problem is that the GOP has the power to subpoena all of the Hawaiian birth records anytime it wants to see them.

The failure of Speaker Boehner and Chairman Issa to take the thirty minutes it might take to prepare a subpoena for these records makes the GOP leadership appear weak, impotent and devoid of principles. People have speculated, as concerns Issa, that he is being blackmailed and held in check by people who know details about his background.

I’m with you. I’m sick of people’s “feelings”. I want to know what they think and what they’re going to do about it.

The whole country and world is in trouble because of people’s hysterical and overly emotional touchy feeley “feelin’s”. Let’s all grow up, man up and start thinking and acting rather than just endlessly blathering on.

I agree - I can accept a timid candidate not wanting to “jump in” - by why declare the issue is settled (as most do)? Things change fast in politics, and they will wind up looking stupid on the other end.

They can say - “I have yet to study the issue in detail, but we should see evidence from both sides”

Democrats had no problem at all demanding that McCain release ALL of his past records.

Here is Shumer saying that if you want to be President then the public has a right to see ALL of your past records...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ6iLuyCAx0

Republicans have no excuse to not demand that Obama release ALL of his past records to the public.

I totally agree by not showing courage on this right off the bat it put Repubs on defense. Learn from Donald he nailed the media big time today!
I agree with the paragraph above..good one. perhaps in closing “trust but verify” that way you lock in a national security theme which it is!

All they need is for one of them to remind the public that Obama Sr was not an American citizen when Obama was born. I don’t believe he was ever an American citizen.

Not too hard.
