Do any of you people on this thread understand that actions have consequences? And those consequences directly affect the warriors in Afghanistan who are putting their asses on the line for you? This jackass preacher has every right to burn the Koran, but his actions pose a grave danger to our troops.

Their asses have been put on the lines, by the current rules of engagement that they have to operate under, in war you either release the dogs or you do not.

Who exactly are we fighting?

That jackass preacher has under our Constitution the right to burn that book as well as any other book, as deplorable as you might find it.

These people didn't attack our troops. They tackled innocent civilians. Troops are armed, and they will attack those troops any time they can without a Koran being burned.

If burning a Koran would make them attack our troops it might work well to smoke them out.

These cowardly killers knew the UN guards would not shoot at them so they got a Freebie.

It doesn't take much to persuade a Muslim to behead someone just post a picture of their pedophile leader. So now we have to not post pictures of Mohamed and not burn Korans. Any other rules we should follow? Maybe we should just give up and let them take over. I don't think so.

Yeah, we get it. We build them power plants and water treatment facilities and they kill our soldiers. We arm and train them and they kill us. We teach them to farm and try to bring the 21st century to them and ........they kill us.

I could give a shit if a muzzie burned the Bible, it's just a book made out of paper. OTOH, if they take out a church then we take out a mosque. Should have nuked the whole place while we were pissed ten years ago.

Do you have any understanding that this involves far more than just consequences against our troops? When the Islamic radicals can intimidate people around the world thru "self-censorship," then we are violating our own principles that this Republic was founded upon.

When the Danish cartoons depicting Mohammed were published, Danish embassies around the world were attacked. Some people died as a result. When Salman Rushdie published the Satanic Verses, a fatwa was issued against him that demanded he be killed. It is still in effect and Rushdie must still be very careful about his security and appearing in public. Theo van Gogh was assassinated because of a film he made about Islam.

The people who should be criticized and excoriated are the people who killed the UN staff. Their actions are in no way justified by what a preacher does in the US. The idea that we must curtail our right of free expression because it might anger radical Islamists is abhorrent, especially when it comes from one of our national leaders. Where is the outcry about bibles not being allowed to be imported into many Muslim countries? Or the prohibition against the practice of Christianity in those countries.

The grave danger posed to our way of life thru self-censorship caused by fear of a radical religion's response is far greater than the physical danger posed to our troops. What the Hell kind of nation have we become?

Horse manure. This is not going to convince one rag head he should kill an American that he would have otherwise let live...

No Jackass!

The terrorist muslims pose the grave danger to our troops, and to their own people!

Do you suppose that if our brave soldiers taped Qurans to their body armor it would make much difference?

ARE YOU FOR REAL?

I probably don't have as much time served in harms way as this PC A-Hole (and if you doubt me MORON--that he's a 1st Class ASSHOLE--simply look to the "Rules of Engagement" he and his clueless idiots in the Oval Office and Pentagon are enforcing...and if you want to talk about something which is "endangering out troops...") but I bet I have more time (18 months in Nam--WHEN Patreus was still in High School) than you do and know a HELL OF A LOT more about the Quar'an, Hadith, the phony, psychotic, pederast "profit" (Mooohamud) as well as the cult-cum-Religion of (Rest In) Pieces than either you or that jerk Petraeus.

Are you realllly that stoooopid to think that the Islamo-Fascist need ANY excuse to kill our Military--or for that matter any of us "Kuffar/Infidels-- (or if we show them "respect" and work on "hearts and minds") they will lay down their arms and join hands with our Warriors and sing "Kumbaya" around the camp fire?

HAVE ANOTHER GLASS OF KOOL AID, DINGBAT!!!

Oh, so their time in Afghanistan and elsewhere has been a walk in the park UNTIL Pastor Jones burned the Koran? Burning the Koran will make things worse?? I really don't think some no-name preacher burning the Koran weeks ago does NOT equal crazy Muslims burning SOLDIERS and hanging them on bridges, among others! >:-( Obama, Petraeus, and all those high level folks kowtowing to Muslims around the world is BAD. BAD BAD BAD. Why can't some people on this thread understand that these actions have consequences for our warriors in Afghanistan?!?!?! You think these so-called 'angry Muslims' won't be emboldened BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES kissing their butts????????? Feh.

I agree that what the preacher did with the book was dumbheaded. He should be personally glad he did it in the USA. However, I don’t really believe our soldiers are fighting to protect my ass. I did that in WWII and my brother who died on Okinawa told me he was doing the same. At some point we should have figured out that these people in Afganistan are the ones who don’t give a rats ass about our military. At some point we the USA should have acknowledged a failed mission and cut the losses. Do you hear anyone now talking about taking down Al Quaida. We have had our Korea, our Viet Nam, our Iraq. When do we get back to keeping our military and personnel lives for our defense instead of building other ungrateful nations with majorities which don’t mind/care about USA blood on their soil.

Ahem, it would appear it only posed a problem for UN employees.

Much worse for our soldiers was the gay man’s release of 250,000 diplomatic cables, done to spite the military—his employer.

If this legal act by a minister caused the UN to be targeted, please tell me again why anyone should care? I can’t stand the UN anyway, can you?

. . .

I think that’s what sticks in my craw.

The Muslims who’ve gone on yet another murderous rampage are the ones who should be worried about severe consequences. Instead, we’re being lectured.

We’ve been at this for nearly a decade and in defense of our freedom we’re losing our freedom here at home.

Our troops are already in gravest danger. They are in war. If Petraeus was worried at all about his troops, he would recind the ROEs that handcuff them 24/7 in Afghanistan. But instead, he attacks a preacher in Florida.

This kind of mindset, of being afraid to even perturb a mortal enemy’s feelings.... is suicidal for our nation. It is THIS WEAKNESS that motivated the moslums to attack. If they had known that we would have retaliated with overwhelming out of proportion force they would have stayed home and prayed to allah.

No, this preacher's actions don't put our troops in danger, they have been in danger as long as they've been alive because they aren't Muslim. That's the part you don't seem to be able to comprehend. This crap about the Muslims being outraged because someone burnt a Koran is just that, it's crap. Muslims are commanded by their prophet to kill the infidel. There, literally, is no such thing as a "good Muslim". There are only good people who are apostate Muslims, and practicing Muslims who would kill you for being an infidel. You've got to get away from this idea that Islam has somehow been hijacked by extremists, because it hasn't. Those animals over there beheading people are devout Muslims doing exactly what their prophet told them to do.

Can you comprehend this? Burning a Koran doesn't harm our soldiers, the inability to face what we're really dealing with here is what harms them. Restrictive ROE is what gets our troops killed, not some preacher burning a book thousands of miles away. I understand that Petraeus has to toe the party line to a certain extent and he's a better commander than many who would replace him were he to actually speak his mind, but there comes a point where he either needs to keep his mouth shut about events back home or take a stand and tell the truth, consequences be damned.
