It’s difficult for me to retain my civility. Petraeus is not taking care of the soldiers under his command. He is endangering them with his politically correct bull crap. That includes an ROE in Afghanistan that prohibits our soldiers from defending themselves if so-called non-combatants are even in the vicinity of the terrorist shooters.

As long as one American soldier—let alone my son— is being directed to fight with two arms tied behind their backs I’ll speak out. It is my God given right to do so. Who are you, anyway, to tell me what I may or may not say?

Apparently you have the same problem with an American’s right to free speech as does Petraeus. What other parts of our Constitution do you deem unimportant?

Sheesh!

For the record I’m a retired US Army 05 (LTC). I served during the Vietnam and 1st Gulf War. I readily concede I was not in combat. However, as a student of soldiering for 28 years, and a history buff most of my life, I have learned some things along the way. I don’t have to have been a teacher to know bad teaching when I see it. I need not have been in combat to understand the political class—including the likes of Petraeus—are currently sending our soldiers in harm’s way with no intention of winning.

Our men and women are being killed and maimed. For what purpose? We’ve been at this idiocy for over 10 years and there is no end in sight. The Islamoterrorists, and the states that support them, should have been crushed by 2004.

Do you have any grasp how much of this country’s human and material wealth is being expended to put down a bunch of 17th Century religious zealots. Their only real weapons: A willingness to kill defenseless and innocent people and oil. We have the military strength to remedy the former and our own energy resources to remedy the later.

Why are we not doing so?

The crux of our problem has been 60 years of neocon policies that benefit a few while dragging the USA into ever more foggy civil wars that have nothing to do with the defense of the USA. More often than not we’ve been fighting on the sides of those of very questionable integrity.

When the actual defense of the USA is put at risk make no mistake that the ROE will be perfectly clear to all. But when the reason for wars are foggy to begin with there is no good ROE. OBL should have been taken out with precision early on, but for some reason that was never made a priority by Clinton and Bush according to some.

It’s time to take care of the USA while we still have a USA and let the middle east cover itself with sand.

The bigger our military the more it seems our neocon chicken hawks want to use it at their whim. We’ve been in war for what seems now like decades. Meanwhile China and India and others are beginning to eat our lunch in the war that really counts.....economic.
