As reports that Meredith Vieira is planning an exit from NBC's "Today Show" swirl, the anchor has sparked controversy over her failure to question a number of unsubstantiated challenges to the U.S. citizenship of President Barack Obama that Donald Trump floated in an interview with Vieira this morning. Trump--the billionaire real estate tycoon and reality TV figure who is flirting with a 2012 presidential run--again sought to suggest that Obama was not born in the United States. "Birther" activists on the right have circulated the unsubstantiated claim in an effort to depict Obama's presidency as the outgrowth of a shadowy, constitutionally illegitimate conspiracy. The birther position has been thoroughly debunked, and it hasn't gained traction within the journalistic mainstream. But Trump has nonetheless been on a media blitz in recent weeks promoting it. When the issue came up on "Today"--which airs on the same network as Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice"--Vieira didn't exactly hold his feet to the fire. "His grandmother in Kenya said he was born in Kenya and she was there and witnessed the birth," said Trump, reiterating a claim that has been proven false, as Vieira sat by silently.

When their own anchor doesn't have an answer for Trump's questions about Obama's birth, they turn on her, in order to protect their Chosen One.

Caught part of this on Rush. NBC is between a rock and a hard place here. They want to defend Hussein, but Trump has a lot of star power and makes them a lot of $$$.

Maybe I’m late to the party on this “Birth Certificate” stuff, but I have a question. Forget whether there is a long form certificate on file somewhere in Hawaii. Has anyone checked whether Obama’s mother was even in a hospital anywhere in Hawaii on the day he was born? You ALWAYS have to sign a stack of admission papers every time you go into a hospital to have a kid. Hasn’t anyone ever looked to see if she was in fact in a hospital anywhere? Or if she squeezed little barry out at home, she still has to show up at a hospital at some point to GET a birth certificate made. Anyone know anything about her? Or is the ObamaBot claim that HE was born in Hawaii even though she wasn’t there?
I must say - So far Trump is making chumps of them.
He knows how to play these media whores.

I suspect Trump is bating them. If they ignore his claims then he gets no traction with this. However, if they begin to debate his claims he can then bring in the stronger evidence. So far, the MSM has simply refused to allow a debate. If he can tease them into a fight by letting them think they can win then he has a chance to begin the debate.
Trump went into great detail about that very thing in an interview I saw on Msnbc Morning Joe...he said there is not a shred of evidence Ann Dunham Obama was ever in any Hawaiian hospital, they have combed it.
Birth “CERTIFICATION” (COLB) on the Internet is a fake, forgery, no question. The birth announcements in the newspaper we now know came from a clinic near grandma's house and NOT from either hospital. (They send them to the newspaper in a different way).
The so-called original COLB has problems as well, and has the document number redacted, which voids the document.
We have NO PROOF about Obama’s birth. We have no proof as to WHO his birth parents are.

Someone please tell Trump that when he’s told by one of these jackass’s that the birthers “have been thoroughly debunked” that he (Trump) should ask them who is the doctor who delivered Obama, and for them to shut up and not to bother him until they can tell him who that doctor was.
Nobody knows who delivered Obama - or if they do, they’re not talking. And if they make up a name, they’re treading in dangerous territory, because the Donald has the resources to check out their story to the last detail.
And it should go without saying that if there was a birth certificate - a long form birth certificate - determining that piece of information would be trivial.
There was a group a while back who checked every hospital in Hawaii and none had a record of Obongo being born there.
What about the social security number Obama uses that was issued in Connecticut and not Hawaii?
Claims that Barry wasn’t born in the US are unsubstantiated because Barry’s claim that he was is unsubstantiated. In a reasonable world, the media would be pressing Barry to substantiate his place of birth with real documentation, but there is nothing reasonable about the world that tolerates our media. That leaves the truth seeking up to others, like the Donald.
This is such a non-issue for libs they need to fire anyone that doesn’t toe the line.
Many people have over the last 3 years. Trump again has confirmed Obama was not born in a Hawaiian hospital.

There is a story out there about a woman who remembers her father, a (conveniently deceased) HI doctor, telling the family about a woman patient named quaintly named “Stanley,” whose baby he delivered. I think the Doc’s name was Wood. So let’s see Dr. Wood’s signature on a long form birth certificate. Or ANY doctor’s signature.
