Conservatives are urging their grass-roots colleagues to mute their criticisms of House Speaker John Boehner and the GOP leadership, and to get behind their efforts to address out-of-control spending in Washington.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax on Thursday, former GOP Rep. Pete Hoekstra said the tea-party faithful need to give Boehner “a little bit of breathing room.”

BooHoo Boner best get his stuff all in one bag. The GOP can shut the government down and if the liberals beat them in the next election, so be it. Or he can cave and watch a third party emerge, or people stay home since there’s only ONE party on the ballot, and the liberals will win the next election.

see my tagline

Absolutely not. Now is the time to pour on even more pressure. “Compromise” is another way of saying “sell out.”

This is yet another reason why Hoekstra isn’t Governor of Michigan.

Well, I've had the TV on since 3:00 a.m. and can verify that all the Rats, Obamamedia, and BO apologists are out in full force with their pathetic talking points and propaganda. I understand they've even infiltrated Facebook. Today's talk shows should be pretty interesting too.

Sorry Hoekstra, but the French wing of the party is simply going to have to buck up and hold everyone's feet to the fire on this one. If Boehner can do this he'd be a hero in my eyes. Hopefully he knows the meaning of not firing until you see the whites of their eyes.

It's long since past the time to take names and kick ***.

My feelings too. The movement purposely has no defined leader which provides no body to demonizE by main street media. So, the “Tea Party” has become the Demon.

Why aren’t people talking about raising the debt ceiling? That battle is coming up soon.

Shut your piehole, Hoekstra. Boehner is Speaker because of the Tea Party. We have paid the piper, we are now calling the tune. And I think Boehner’s got no problem with us asking him to do what he was sent there for and said many times he would do.

But even if that weren’t true, the idea that we’re giving this guy too much stress over whether to cut less than one percent of the federal budget while we’re $14 trillion in debt is, to be frank, something only an idiot or a crook would say. Which one is Hoekstra?

Listen, there's no daylight between the Tea Party and me: John Boehner

While I hate the weepy episodes and what appears to be too much openness to temporary compromise or deferral of the necessary fight, I think Rep. Hoekstra's point is that Speaker Boehner is fighting the good fight.

* No Sale. We’ve been screwed over too many times by Republican leadership over the years.*

Exactly!

We MUST hold their feet to the fire and remind them constantly that we are not putting up with “Business as usual”

Any Republican that steps out of line must KNOW that he will not be invited to serve when we hold the next election.
ALL the Dems should know that WE the People are going to do our best to replace them.

I find it odd that all the quibbling is over a fraction of a percentage in cuts!

Our servants in DC need to plan for BIG cuts, 20 30 50%. They did it in 1921, why not again?
At the very least get rid of 10%. Defunding the EPA would be a good start.

I heard a guy on the radio squawking about how GDP will lose .02% if the Feds shut down.

1/200th of a percent?! Woooo, I’m shakin’ in my boots. If we can cut govt spending, the benefits to the economy will be in the solid full percentage points.

That being said, Boehner has done a fairly good job at holding the line and bending the compromise to the direction that the People want him to. (I’m a little ticked at him for his “crazy TEA Partiers” statement though)
He just has to make sure that he doesn’t back down and all the Soviet-esque, socialist, Leftist cockroaches know that we are not going to. If he’s tough and does not compromise (or keeps the compromise VERY small) he can redeem himself for the insult IMHO.

2012, it’s sooner than you think.

Hoekstra and Boehner can always find another job if they don’t like it. I smell a waffling in the making; the stupid part strikes again!

"Which one is Hoekstra?"

Answer: Hoekstra is the idiot. Boehner is the crook.

Boehner was the congressman who passed out checks from the Tobacco companies (back when they had money to pass around) on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

Like I said. I don't trust a guy from OHIO who has a year round sun tan. Or maybe I am being selfish!!!

See my comment on #77. He was the go to guy for the Tobacco Companies. Having any one of these guys representing me is an insult. I figure there are about 100 or less folks we send to Washington who are trying to do what is best for the country. The rest are selfish idiots sun tan ot no!

That goes for my Rep as well.
