When people on THIS SITE are ready to give up the precious mortgage interest deduction and their some of their precious Social Security payments, I’ll take their WHINING about the deficit and the debt a bit more seriously.
For now my only option is to continue to prepare for the collapse of the dollar (and subsequent transformation of the US to a Third World country).
How about this:
From the start let the Dems and the American people now that the line in the sand was 20% of the budget deficit. From the start say we are compromising on leaving 80% of the budget deficit but we must cut 20% of it or we will shut it down until we achieve those cuts.20% of the deficit is 300 billion...that is leadership...
Get the House to stand and deliver.
To hell with all the RINOs.
Yep. This kind of unconstitutional, socialist crap has to be cut, even though "conservatives" may fear backlash from the moochers. If the states want to implement medicare, fine, but it is not a constitutional power of the federal government to pay group rates for doctor bills.
No excuses now,
They should have just let it shut down. Then the Democrats would have been forced to accept the terms.
Now, the same old, same old, will just keep on going for the rest of the year, instead of actual accountability.
This is insanity by it’s definition.
Heck Ryan WROTE medicare D and Boehner passed out checks from K street on the FLOOR of the House to get it passed...
We had that with Bush and look where we got.
I'm ready NOW.
Give me a fixed tax rate, same as everybody else.
I’d say you owe the Senate and President at least the same amount of problem.
A lot of conservatives are figuring out they are really Libertarians.
Never send a crybaby to do a mans job,He must be the worlds Worst Poker player! The guy had a unbeatable hand and THEN FOLDS, Until this basket case is gone, we are in trouble.
Also, it was reported that Reid agreed to a vote on funding PP as a stand alone bill, so that fight is not over yet. There is also an agreement to allow an up or down vote on repealing ObamaCare. With a very heated election season just around the corner there will be more than a couple of Dems who are very worried about their election chances that will be forced into taking a public stand one way or the other. That will help the GOP in the next election. In the face of Obama/Reid, I think Mr Speaker did ok.
Did the Senate and president represent themselves as limited government conservative activists? If we kept our house clean then the Dems would be irrelevant.
This statement from Bohner ranks right up there with "You have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency".
Anyone remember who uttered those words and in so doing, proclaimed his race utterly done?
Yep. Boehner lost as soon as they passed $30 billion in cuts through the House. Wait... gotta throw a bone to the Tea Party, let’s make it $61 billion. That’s $61 billion out of a $1.6 trillion deficit, or 3.8% of the deficit. That is not a serious proposal. So we end up with $39 billion in cuts, and the Democrats are laughing.
I believe Rand Paul proposed $500 billion in cuts. Which I note is still around only a third of the deficit, but at least that would have been a serious proposal. If we used that as our starting point for negotiations, we’d have $150 - 250 billion cut by now, not $39 billion. I fear these are not serious people in charge of the GOP.
“I’m ready NOW.”
I realized that I was overgeneralizing when I implied no one was ready to sacrifice to save the country as it is.
But it does seem like roughly half of the people out here aren’t yet ready to give up their government goodies - or pay for them. They just want their goodies and think they will come by magic.
Much like the union thugs in Wisconsin, the moochers on the Federal level can rant and rave all they want, but it won’t change the fiscal situation one iota. We’re staring down the barrel of a massive, generational financial collapse. It’s about time the “leadership” recognized the dire circumstances they’ve put us in with their free-spending ways and act with the deliberate urgency they had when they voted all this nonsense into law. Color me cynical, but I just don’t see that happening at all......
