You would have to go back to our earlier posts...I don’t disagree with what you are saying...indeed it is my point as well. I don’t think I would go so far as to say someone misinterpreting the NIV 2005 translation is illiterate. The statement “Everything is permissible” is too broad and easy to take out of context...that is why they changed it later I am thinking.

I think Paul was referring to antinomialists who thought that Jesus's death made it so that everything that was formerly sin was now no longer sin and they could do as they pleased. In Romans he referred to some others who claimed that Paul and others were saying, "Let us do evil so that good will result." They had as many wackos back then as we do now, though the ones now have almost 2000 years of history to inform them, so they're really without much of an excuse.
