What I don't get is that Jim DeMint and other Republicans have threatened to block raising the debt ceiling unless a balanced-budget amendment is passed. If they were serious they would just vote no and have a defacto balanced budget amendment. The government will still raise trillions in taxes, they just can't spend trillions over that. Obama and the Dems will scream about old people not getting their meds, but the ‘Pubs can answer its about setting priorities. If the old people need meds, stop funding NPR, Planned Parenthood, bombing Libya, etc.
